This will be a diverse production. Actors from historically marginalized communities are encouraged to attend. Connecticut and Westchester talent a plus.

PREPARATION

Please prepare one song in the 1960's pop style ala The Four Seasons (men) or Lesley Gore, The Shirelles, Ronnie Spector, etc. (women)

BREAKDOWN

Music Theatre of Connecticut will open its 37th season with JERSEY BOYS in September. MTC is located in a beautiful theatre center in Norwalk, CT, and the company has won numerous Best awards both BroadwayWorld and Connecticut Critics' Circle Awards, including the prestigious Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Professional Theatre, joining Long Wharf, Hartford Stage and the Westport Playhouse.

SEEKING:

TOMMY DEVITO, MALE, 30-40; strong tenor/baritone voice, excellent and fast with traditional four part harmonies; ability to play guitar a strong plus; a natural-born leader with appealing bad-boy quality.

FRANKIE VALLI, 5’9 or shorter; has a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and is able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli; strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G; charismatic and charming; has a gritty side as well as a polished veneer; excellent and fast with four-part harmonies.

NICK MASSI, MALE, 30-40; strong bass/baritone voice, excellent and fast with traditional four-part harmonies; a quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons

BOB GAUDIO, MALE, 20-35; preferably tall; strong tenor/baritone voice; excellent and fast with traditional four-part harmonies; an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.

Male 1. NICK DEVITO, MALE, 30’s; also Stosh/Billy Dixon/Norman Waxman/Charlie Calello (and others); strong singer to play various roles; strong tenor/bari-tenor voice; excellent and fast with traditional four-part harmonies; ability to play guitar a very strong plus; bad-boy quality; good dancer.

Male 2. JOE PESCI, MALE, 20-35, 5’9 or shorter; also recording Studio Engineer (and others); young, energetic; a strong singer.

Male 3. BOB CREWE, MALE, 30-40; intelligent and flamboyant; genius music producer and lyricist; an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons.

Male 4. GYP DECARLO, MALE, 45-55; tough, Mafioso type; a strong character and strong singer.

Male 5. BARRY BELSON, MALE, 20-49; also French Rap Star/Detective One/Hal Miller/Police Officer/Davis (and others); strong singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc.); strong tenor to high C; with a strong falsetto to G above high C; has the ability to riff in rhythm-and-blues style.

Male 6. HANK MAJEWSKI, MALE, 20-49; also Stanley/Crewe’s PA/Joe Long (and others); strong singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc.), bari-tenor voice down to a strong low G (low E a big plus); guitar and/or drums a plus.

Female 1. MARY & OTHERS, FEMALE, 20-39; Frankie’s wife; tough, “Seen it all”, Italian, Jersey girl; she’s got a killer sense of humor; also a variety of other roles including member of a 60’s style girl group; strong belt useful; high straight tone soprano also useful; very good dancer.

Female 2. LORRAINE, FEMALE, 20-35; Church Lady/Miss Frankie Nolan/Bob’s Party Girl/Angel/Lorraine (and others); Lorraine is Frankie’s girlfriend; educated, not from Jersey, a real career girl, young Diane Sawyer; also a variety of other roles, including member of a 60’s style girl group and tough-as-nails Jersey girl; strong high belt useful, belt to high F extremely useful; high, straight tone soprano also useful; very good dancer.

Female 3. FRANCINE, FEMALE, 20-37; also Frankie’s Mother/Nick’s Date/Angel/Francine Valli (and others); Frankie’s daughter; named for, doted on and deeply loved by Frankie. She’s a Jersey girl—vulnerable, lost and acts out to make up for lack of attention from her dad. Also variety of other roles including member of a 60’s style girl group and a tough-as-nails Jersey girl. Strong, high belt useful. Belt to high F extremely useful, high straight tone soprano also useful but not required; very good dancer.
