BREAKDOWN

All principal roles are cast. Auditions are for understudy & future replacement consideration.

MARY JANE HEALY
(ROLE CAST) (40’s/f, White) An attractive, polished, Connecticut housewife who’s addicted to Soul Cycle, Pinterest and— oh yeah, opiates. Outwardly, Mary Jane’s main priority in life is presenting a perfect image to the world. Inwardly, she struggles with processing trauma from her past. Rock belt.

STEVE HEALY
(ROLE CAST) (40’s/m, White) The breadwinner of the Healy family, this middle-aged dad feels very far removed from the happiness of youth. Though he is a loving and responsible man, his marriage is on the rocks and he’d rather disappear into his “man cave” than deal with the complications of parenthood. Must be a strong rock singer.

FRANKIE HEALY
(ROLE CAST) (16-18/f, Black) An adoptee growing up in an affluent white family. A defiant, outspoken teenage activist, Frankie feels like people have been silencing her for years, and she’s tired of it. She’s a troublemaker with a big heart. Extremely strong, dynamic, powerful singer comfortable with rock belt singing, as well as lighter pop style singing.

NICK HEALY
(ROLE CAST) (17-18/m, White) The “perfect” son, Nick is an athlete and star student. He often feels like he can’t be his true self because his parents— particularly his mother— are living vicariously through him. Nick guards his reputation carefully. He fears being exposed and losing everything. Strong rock tenor.

JO
(ROLE CAST) (16-18/f, any ethnicity) Joanne, aka Jo. Has been best friends with Frankie since preschool and is now falling in love with her. Jo uses her sense of humor to protect herself, but she is more vulnerable than she appears. Must be a strong rock singer.

BELLA
(ROLE CAST) (16-18/f, any ethnicity) One of Frankie’s best friends. Has a troubled home life, and a party girl reputation. Becomes vulnerable and withdrawn. Strong rock voice.
