BREAKDOWN

GROUNDED, by George Brant

Dates:

First Rehearsal: August 15, 2022

Performances: September 8 – 25, 2022

Grounded tells the story of a hot-rod F16 fighter pilot whose unexpected pregnancy ends her career in the sky. After maternity leave, she is reassigned to “the chair force” as a reluctant operator of remote-controlled drones in the Middle East. From an air-conditioned trailer in the desert near Vegas, the Pilot struggles through dreamlike 12-hour shifts hunting terrorists by day and being a wife and mother by night, leading her into a downward spiral. Grounded explores the mental and physical sacrifices of service experienced by a human who has the power of a wrathful deity.

SEEKING:

THE PILOT: ROLE CAST. A woman in her mid-to-late 30's. She had no allergies or asthma after 12 years of age, distant vision of at least 20/200 but corrected to 20/20, and near vision of 20/40 but corrected to 20/20. She has a sitting height of between 2 foot 9 inches and 3 foot 4 inches, and a vertical standing height of between 5 foot 4 inches and 6 foot 5 inches tall. She possesses normal color vision and meets other physical weight requirements, with no more than 32% body fat. She is able to complete a 1.5 mile run in 13 minutes and 56 seconds or less, as well as complete 50 sit-ups and 27 push-ups in a times test of one minute each. She graduated at the top of her class and has a well-rounded education. She possesses heightened situational awareness.

DEADLINE, by Marcia Kash and Douglas E. Hughes

A World Premiere Comedy Thriller

Playwrights Don and Mara are hired to finish a famous mystery writer’s last play following his mysterious death, shortly before its Broadway opening. This play-within-a-play takes place on a yacht, where an estranged family has been called together for the reading of their mother’s will. As Don and Mara delve deeper into the writing process, they suddenly find themselves trapped in the world they are trying to complete. Getting out of the play becomes a matter of life or death.

She’s Back!!!! That over-indulgent, holiday celebrant “Cindy Lou Who” is back to make your holidays bright! Who’s Holiday! – last season’s smash-hit comedy by Matthew Lombardo - is back with the hilarious and multi-talented Alex Sunderhaus, offering up some old, some new, some borrowed and some “blue” Christmas to kick your holidays into overdrive. First-timers and returnees are all welcome!!!! Cindy Lou does not discriminate. She’ll offend everyone!

SEEKING:

CINDY LOU WHO: ROLE IS CAST. 45. Unlike the bright-eyed character of her youth, she is no longer an innocent. Having been dealt a tough hand in the game of life, she desperately attempts to remain cheery in all situations. Despite her style-challenged attire and now poorly permed bleached blond hair, there still is a glimmer of hope in her beaten down spirit.

BARBECUE, by Robert O'Hara

Performances: April 13 – 30, 2023

In this hilarious and devastating comedy by Robert O‘Hara, the four O’Mallery siblings host a barbecue picnic for their youngest sister, Barbara. Their ulterior motive: stage an intervention to confront her outrageous behavior and substance abuse. A parallel family undertakes the same intervention in the next scene. From that moment, the two picnics become raucous and unpredictable. Racial politics collide with family stereotypes, survival and America’s fascination with self-destruction as entertainment.

Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.

Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:

- Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for Dayton is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.

We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. Additional information required in notice:

The audition room is 3800 square feet and can accommodate no more than 38 individuals at a time.

The holding room is 3000 square feet and can accommodate no more than 83 individuals at a time.
