Breakdown
MAPLE AND VINE, by Jordan Harrison
Director: Doug Finlayson
Seeking to cast the following roles:
Katha: 30’s, burned out New York publishing executive, mourning the loss of her miscarried child, in spiritual crisis.
Ryu: 30’s, Asian-American, a successful New York plastic surgeon, very much in love with his wife, but fearful that he is losing her, willing to “walk through hell” for Katha.
Dean: 30’s, an upbeat1950’s business man, hiding a secret gay identity, strong convictions that what he is doing is the “right” thing.
Ellen/Jenna: 30’s, as Ellen she’ an ideal and chipper 1950’s homemaker and doting wife (to Dean); Jenna is a co-worker of Katha’s at the publishing company.
Roger/Omar: 30’s, as Roger he’s a 1950’s factory foreman, a bit crude, has a gay identity, but is no longer willing to hide it; Omar is a co-worker of Katha’s who covets her job in the publishing company.
ENTERTAINING MR. SLOAN, by Joe Orton

Seeking to cast the following roles (English accents required):
Sloan: Good looking young man, a hustler, mysterious and rough around the edges. Kath: Sloan’s middle aged “landlady.” Sexually attracted to Sloan. Sister to Ed.
Ed: Kath’s middle aged brother. Businessman. Also sexually attracted to Sloan.
Kemp (Da): Kath’s and Ed’s elderly father who lives with Kath, has an estranged relationship with Ed, and suspects Sloan of sinister intentions. Could be showing signs of early senility.

Hannah: mid/late 30’s – early 40’s, married to Franklyn. Childless who wants a perfect life with children Franklyn: mid/late 30’s – early 40’s, married to Hannah, businessman but dreams of becoming a novelist. Martha: mid/late 30’s – early 40’s, married to Ben, sarcastic and very funny (Ben and Martha’s relationship survives through their bickering).
Ben: mid/late 30’s – early 40’s, married to Martha, sarcastic and very funny (Ben and Martha’s relationship survives through their bickering).
Alison: late teens/early 20’s, innocent and unsophisticated from the backwoods of Iowa. Pregnant with the child that Hannah and Franklyn hope to adopt.
