PETER AND THE STARCATCHER
by Rick Elice
Dir: Lauren Caldwell. 1st Reh: 8/14/15. Run: 9/4- 9/27

Wildly theatrical, hilarious, innovative retelling of how a miserable orphan came to be The Boy Who Never Grew Up, Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old legend of Peter Pan. Many roles are already cast.

Captain Scott
Intrepid Captain of Britain’s fastest frigate, male, adult.

Smee
First mate with a saucy gait and a kind heart; single-mindedly devoted to The Black Stache. Adult

Alf
Old seadog enamored of Mrs. B. male, adult.

The following roles have been CAST:

Boy (Peter)
CAST: Teenage orphan, played by an adult. Nameless, homeless & friendless at the beginning; a hero by the end. A survivor. More than anything in the world, he wants a home and a family.

Prentiss
CAST: Teenage orphan, played by an adult. Ambitious, hyper articulate, logical. Longs to be a leader. A bit of a blowhard with just a touch of cowardice

Ted
CAST: Teenage orphan, played by an adult. Obsessed with food, a natural actor, an easy wit, perhaps a future poet

Lord Aster
CAST: The very model of a Victorian English gentleman. Devoted father of Molly. And, a Starcatcher. Adult.

Molly Aster
CAST: Girl played by adult. A true leader. Curious, intelligent girl. Will risk everything for the sake of Doing Right. Beginning to feel things she doesn’t understand. 13 years old.

Mrs. Bumbrake/Teacher
CAST: Mrs. B is Molly’s nanny. Stiff in the lip, loose in the hip, fun on a ship. Teacher was formerly a salmon, now an ancient, knowledgeable mermaid. Adult

The Black Stache
CAST: Famous pirate villain. Heartless and hirsute, suspiciously well-read, partial to the poetical and theatrical, male, adult.

Slank/Hawking Clam
CAST: Slank is the vicious captain of The Neverland, without the skill or quality to lead anyone. Greedy Bastard. Hawking Clam is the son of Fighting Prawn and Sweet-sour Shrimp, male, adult

Grempkin/Mack/Sanchez/Fighting Prawn
CAST: Grempkin is the mean and malodorous orphanage schoolmaster. Mack is a very bad sailor. Sanchez is a hard-working Spanish pirate with an identity crisis. Fighting Prawn is the King of the Mollusks. Male, adult.

ALL GIRL FRANKENSTEIN

Southeast Premiere! The Hipp brings a dark, indulgent, salacious style to the classic tale of Frankenstein. After his demanding mother passes from the mortal coil, Victor Frankenstein is driven by regret to discover the means of reanimating the dead. When the creature he resurrects attempts by itself to manifest life, resurrection and procreation co-mingle igniting disastrous abominations.

All roles are played by women. All act as ensemble as well.

16-24, youth becoming a man. Obsessive, dark, desperate

Clerval (Henry)
16-24, youth becoming a man. A loner. In love with Victor. Desperate to belong.

Elizabeth Lavenza
16-24, the ward. Growing to womanhood. Nurturing, strong.

Caroline Frankenstein:
30-40, Mother, loving, ill, has a difficult time running her home

4-12, youngest child, precocious, has a dark side. Played by an adult

THE SNOW QUEEN

World Premier! Classic tale of friendship, love, and bravery, this is now beautifully retold in a new theatrical adaptation full of mystery and fantasy commissioned by the Hippodrome. Kai and Gerda are childhood best friends, but when Kai falls under the spell of the wicked Snow Queen, Gerda sets out on magical adventure to rescue him from her evil enchantment. All actors play multiple roles within the fairytale.
