ROLES FOR ACTORS 18-40:
Hamlet - Prince of Denmark, son of Queen Gertrude and the late King Hamlet, and nephew of the present king, Claudius.
Horatio - friend of Hamlet.
Ophelia - daughter of Polonius, sister of Laertes.
Laertes - son of Polonius, brother of Ophelia.
Fortinbras - Prince of Norway, whose father the king was killed by Hamlet’s father.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern - former friends of Hamlet.
Marcellus and Bernardo - Officers who discover a ghost at Elsinore.
Francisco - A soldier and guardsman at Elsinore.
Reynaldo - Polonius’s servant.
ROLES FOR ACTORS 40+:
Polonius - The Lord Chamberlain of Claudius’s court, father of Laertes and Ophelia.
The Ghost - The specter of Hamlet’s recently deceased father.
Voltimand and Cornelius - Courtiers.
Two Clowns - A Sexton gravedigger and a bailiff.
Player King & Queen.

Preparation
MEMORIZE 2 minutes from one of the soliloquies or longer speeches by an age-appropriate character from the play. Actors 40+ may prepare and memorize text by Gertrude and Claudius, though these roles are cast. All auditioners should be prepared to read from the script. Bring headshot and resume.
