FREDDIE FILMORE – Male, 40s-50s, any ethnicity: Plays a variety of roles including the radio Announcer and “Old Man” Potter. A polished, self-assured personality who must voice and play a multitude of characters.

JAKE LAURENTS [THIS ROLE IS CAST] – Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity: Plays the role of George Bailey during the radio broadcast. This role has been cast.

SALLY APPLEWHITE Female, 30s-40s, any ethnicity: Plays the role of Mary Hatch. Wholesome, down to earth, smart, and funny.

LANA SHERWOOD Female, 20s, any ethnicity: Precocious, youthful, and sassy. Lana voices and plays a range of characters including Violet, Rose Bailey, and Zuzu.

HARRY “JAZZBO” HEYWOOD Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity: Will voice and play a range of characters, primarily Clarence the Angel.

Pablo/20s-30s/Latina/Hispanic - 31 year old lawyer from Chile. He comes from an affluent family, he is smart, ambitious, and driven to move up in the world and at work. Minimal Spanish required. This role has been cast.

Virginia F/50s-70s – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST An assertive, affluent, socially-savvy engineer. This role has been cast.

Frank M/60s-70s – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST A retiree who gets worked up easily, but he finds calm in his garden which he is deeply passionate about. This role has been cast.

Trothe Pepperston - F/any ethnicity: (18+ to play) A fifteen year old heiress who suddenly discovers she must learn to fence or risk losing her fortune. Lovesick, ambitious, and extremely naive. Actor should be comfortable with an upper class British dialect (British RP or something like it) .

Duchess Theodosia Pepperston - F/40s-50s/any ethnicity: The finest swordswoman in the land. Theodosia is proud, fierce, and extremely intimidating. Must be skilled in fencing/stage combat.

Penelope - F/30s-40s/any ethnicity: A crafty servant who cares greatly for Trothe, but is motivated to help outwit those who would seek to take her inheritance away in part because it would benefit her. Character speaks with a Yorkshire, Mancunian or working class Londoner dialect.

Tilly - F/20s-30s/any ethnicity: A servant who aids Penelope in her schemes to help Trothe. A skilled swordswoman, Tilly dresses in disguise as a great Prussian swordsmaster to aid in the plot to help Trothe keep her inheritance. Character speaks with a Yorkshire, Mancunian, or working class Londoner dialect. Actor should be comfortable with fencing/stage combat.

Luitger (Eleanore) - F/30s-40s/any ethnicity: A Prussian swordsmaster, the epitome of a noble - grandiose and arrogant. She passes as a man throughout most of the play and speaks only in German. Must be able to speak German (or be highly proficient with a German dialect). Actor should be comfortable with fencing/stage combat.

Lord Abernathy - M/50s+/any ethnicity: A well-meaning, hapless gentlemen who was the closest friend to Trothe’s late father. This role as been cast.

Osric - M/20s/any ethnicity: A poet who appears to be naive and innocent and is chasing after Trothe’s affections. Trothe is positively in love with the person she believes Osric is, but he uses it as a front to hide his darker motives. Actor should be comfortable with an upper class British dialect (British RP or something like it) .

CAST Henry Plantagenet - M/50: The King of England whose aim is to ensure his kingdom remains unified after he dies. Henry is more spontaneous and emotional than his wife, whom he has kept imprisoned for many years. This role has been cast.

Eleanor of Aquitaine - F/50s-60s/any ethnicity: A schemer and a manipulator, Eleanor is always calculating her strategy. She holds great authority, has a strong presence, and is more than capable of holding her own in a male-dominated world. This role has been cast.

John - M/20s/any ethnicity: The youngest son of Henry and Eleanor and certainly the weakest. Though favored by Henry, John usually acts out of fear and is generally sulky and sullen.

Geoffrey - M/20s/any ethnicity: One of Henry and Eleanor’s sons, Geoffrey is often thought of as the brains of the family. He is charming and attractive but cold and calculating. Geoffrey longs greatly for the love of his parents.

Richard the Lionheart - M/20s-30s/any ethnicity: The eldest son and a war hero. Richard is impressive, striking, and temperamental. Seemingly the strongest both in stature and in constitution.

Alais Capet - F/20s/any ethnicity: Mistress of the King. Alais is underestimated because of her seeming innocence, but the guise hides her intellect and ruthlessness.

Philip Capet - M/20s/any ethnicity: The young King of France who is not at first as skilled in political manipulation as Henry. However, he is incredibly observant and keen to learn.

Janine Bosko - F/50s-60s/white: A history professor in her early 60s. She is seasoned, professional, and sharply intelligent. She believes herself to be progressive, but her world views and patience are put to the test by Zoe.

Zoe Reed - F/20s/Black: A 20-year-old college student preparing to graduate. Zoe is willful, intelligent, and hungry to make a difference in the world. Unwilling to compromise, Zoe holds her own against authority and believes strongly in the righteousness of her actions.

STEPHANO: a drunken sailor. Earthy, clumsy.

ARIEL/ MIRANDA/ ANTONIO - Female
ARIEL: servant of Prospero. Ethereal, mischievous.
MIRANDA: teenage daughter of Prospero. Innocent, fiery.
ANTONIO: brother of Prospero who overthrew him and had him sent to the island. He plots to overtake Alonso.

CALIBAN/ ALONSO - Male
CALIBAN: resentful half-human, half-monster servant of Prospero.
ALONSO: King of Naples, father of Ferdinand. Helped overthrow Prospero. Elderly, heartbroken.

FERDINAND/ SEBASTIAN - Male
FERDINAND: son of Alonso. Romantic, humorous.
SEBASTIAN: brother of Alonso, king of Naples. Antonio’s sidekick.
