For the New York City Center 2019 Gala, seeking Equity actor/singers for various roles.
PREPARATION
Please prepare a brief a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music as an accompanist will be provided. Please also bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back

BREAKDOWN
SEEKING THE FOLLOWING:
Young Eva:
Latinx, female, mid-teens. A feisty, ferocious spitfire of a teen whose determination and power come from a place of deep pain. Her narrative role in this production will be about chronicling the hardships and harsh realities of Eva Duarte’s early life. The division of responsibilities is such that this actor will sing “On this Night of a Thousand Stars”/“Eva, Beware of the City” and the first ¾ of “Buenos Aires,” but will appear silently later in the piece as well. Seeking strong dancers – training in tango a plus. Strong mixed belt.
Eva:
Latinx, female, early 20s – early 30s. The first lady of Argentina. She is bold, determined, gutsy, brash, manipulative, irascible, glamorous, exceptionally sharp, and deeply captivating all at the same time. She holds a great deal of ferocity, feistiness, and power, and on the flipside—at certain times, deep pain and vulnerability. More than anything, she is nothing if not high status – a complete mastermind in the world of power dynamics. In this production, she does not sing until the end of “Buenos Aires” (see above). Strong mixed belt.
Che:
Latinx, male, any age. The show’s narrator, a jaded cynic who provides a critique on Evita and her followers throughout the musical. Seeking danger, edge, and a propensity for hostility while simultaneously – a wicked sense of humor and an ability to connect with/speak directly to the audience. In this production, Che is Che as Everyman. Rock tenor.
Perón:
Latinx, male, 49 – 57. President of Argentina. A stolid, but charismatic politician who is at once authoritative and charming. He is power hungry, but unlike his wife, only to a point. Strong baritone.
Magaldi:
Latinx, male, 36 – 46. A tango singer who takes advantage of teenage Eva and her yearning for a route to the big city. He’s a showman reeking of sleaziness and manipulation – a guy whose night of easy pleasure turns into a problem in the form of a feisty teen he can’t get off his hands. “Cheesy” baritone.
Mistress:
Latinx, female, 16-18. Juan Perón’s mistress – note the 33 year age gap and all it implies this teenager has endured and survived. Sings “Another Suitcase in Another Hall”. Vulnerable yet nursing a secret strength. Powerful contemporary mix voice needed. Actress also appears in the onstage ensemble.
Child:
Female, 8 – 10. Sincere and earnest above all – she adores Evita with all her heart. Sings “Santa Evita.” Actress also appears in the onstage ensemble.
