Equivocation….based on a lie about a true story.
When King James comissions a play to tell the "true" tale of the Gunpower Plot, Shagspeare and his company of actors struggle with an ethical dilemma: apease their King's wishes and bring together a nation or reveal the truth in a divided country. A theatrical thriller about telling the truth in difficult times.
SHAG: Shakespeare, 40, passionate, intelligent, struggling between principles and politics.
RICHARD/Old Man/Fawkes/Senior/Hangman/Garnet/Macbeth: Shag's dearest friend, the front man.
SHARPE/Madman/Conspirator/Tom/Witch 3/King James/MacDuff: young, talented, hotheaded, hotshot actor (CAST)
NATE/Cecil/Conspiriator/Guard 1/Percy/Witch 2/Junior Interrogator: the King's right hand man, a villian, power hungry (CAST)
