Breakdown

**Updated 2/16**

For each production, there are two-and-a-half weeks for rehearsals, which begin on the Monday two weeks before the opening week. Performance schedule is 4 shows a week: Wednesday-Saturday, all in the evenings, except there is no show on Wednesday, October 5, but a show on Sunday, October 9.

DRACULA
by John L. Balderston and Howard Deane
runs from July 27 - September 30.

This is the first successful adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic novel, on Broadway in 1927 starring Bela Lugosi, and in 1977 starring Frank Langella. All actors have English accents, except Dracula.

Seeking:

DRACULA:
mysterious, polished, distinguished, continental in appearance and manner, speaks with a Central European accent, age range 40-50

MAID:
attractive, age range 20-35; HARKER: handsome, direct and excitable, but well-mannered and educated, age range 25-35

DR. SEWARD:
a psychiatrist who lives in a world of text books and patients, not a man of action, age range 50-60

RENFIELD:
repulsive and a bit mad, a patient of Dr. Seward’s, age range 18-35

BUTTERWORTH:
a hospital attendant who is in charge of Renfield, age range 18-35

LUCY:
a beautiful woman, very pale, age range 18-25.

ABRAHAM VAN HELSING: always alert and resourceful, a man of action who is an expert

on vampires, from Holland, age range 50-60.
