An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Curtis Taylor, Jr.- (25-45), African American. Slick businessman who becomes Dreams' manager. Seduces both Effie & Deena. Tenor. Moderate dancer (must move very well).

Effie Melody White- (20-30), African American. Full-figured. Lead singer of Dreams. Huge gospel belt voice. Singing lead riffs & vocal gymnastics required. Must move very well.

Deena Jones- (18-27), African American. Young, thin & beautiful member of Dreams… the Diana Ross figure. Mezzo, full belt, some scat-singing. Must move very well.

James “Thunder” Early- (25-40), African American. James Brown-like star who takes on Dreamettes as backup singers. Rock tenor. Singing lead riffs & vocal gymnastics required. Must move well, very physical role.

Marty- 25-45, African American. Veteran music agent. Baritone. Moderate dancer (helpful to move well). Danny Glover role in film.

Lorrell Robinson- (18-30), African American. 3rd “Dream”, who enters into chaotic relationship w/James. Soprano, on top of most triad harmony, full belt. Must move very well.

C.C. White-(18-25), African American. Effie's songwriter brother. Very endearing & earnest. Beautiful ballad voice. Must move well.

Michelle Morris/Ensemble- (18-30), African American. Effie's replacement. Thin, attractive. Good, full belt; sings bottom in triad harmonies. Must move very well.

Ensemble: 5 African- American men, 5 African-American women, must be excellent singers who dance or move very well. Harmonies will be tested at the audition.

Berger-Male (20’s), the charismatic tribe leader; sings Donna and Hair; vocal range: high baritone, must have a strong rock voice.

Claude-Male (20’s), the young soldier going off to war; sings Manchester England and Where Do I Go; vocal range: high baritone - tenor.

Shiela- Female (20’s), college student and free spirit, sings Easy to Be Hard and Good Morning Sunshine; vocal range: high belt, must have strong rock voice.

Chrissy- Female (20’s), innocent, pure, sings Frank Mills; vocal range: high folksy voice.

Hud- Male (Any Age), African American tribe member, sings I'm Black and Ain't Got No; vocal range: bass/baritone.

Dionne- Female (20s-30s), African American tribe member, sings Aquarius; vocal range: high belt

Woof- Male (20s), Shy, effeminate tribe member, sings Sodomy; vocal range: tenor with rock falsetto.

Male and Female Tribe (18-100) - all types and ages, strong versatile singer/actors/dancers who move well to play multiple roles; open on vocal range, but must have strong rock voices and skill with harmonies. Especially seeking actors with interesting hair. Nudity Required.

Aerialists- seeking two aerialists who are comfortable becoming part of the singing/dancing tribe.
