First Rehearsal 5/30, Preview 6/22, Opening 6/23, Closing 7/8

seeking:

IRENE
a woman of real beauty and kindness. She is anywhere from 40 to 60. She is intelligent, loyal, someone who places enormous value on love. Unable to have children, she immediately turned her attention to rescue dogs. She has been in a complicated and unnerving marriage to GERRY, who has systematically undermined that capacity and drained her heart so that she is worried and suspicious when her crazy brother TEDDY returns home to live in her basement.

TEDDY
is a hilarious, charming nutjob. He is anywhere from 30 to 50 years old. He is good natured and has a good mind but he is also a lost soul. The only person he can rely on is his sister IRENE, who raised him when their father deserted their mother, whose own grip on reality was not too firm.

GERRY
early 50s. A deceptively steady guy, Gerry has little to no patience for Irene’s crazy brother and he doesn’t want him in his house.

BASKERVILLE:
Director: Jen Wineman
First Rehearsal 6/27, Preview 7/13, Opening 7/14, Closing 7/29

SUMMARY: Ken Ludwig takes perhaps the most famous of the Sherlock Holmes stories and translates it to the stage in hilarious fashion. In Baskerville, Holmes and Watson must crack the mystery of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” before a family curse dooms its latest heir. Watch as our intrepid investigators untangle a dizzying web of clues and deceit. Does a wild hellhound really prowl the moors? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Silly accents and disguises abound as 5 actors portray over 40 characters in this fast-paced comic mystery.

SEEKING: Looking for a racially diverse cast to bring humor, wit, and extreme silliness to this production.

SHERLOCK HOLMES:
30’s. Male or Female. Any ethnicity. A cunning wit, but too smart for his/her own good. Athletic and agile. Lots of sexual charisma, but has no idea what to do with it. Brain moves faster than nearly everyone else’s, but he/she lacks the social graces that would put others at ease around this type of intellect. British RP dialect, but able to do others when a disguise is required.

DOCTOR WATSON:
30’s. Male or Female. Any ethnicity. A person of action, but affable, a good narrator, straight man/woman to Holmes. British dialect (RP). Good comedian. Can charm the audience throughout.

ACTRESS ONE:
25-40. Female. Any ethnicity. Great comedian who is a versatile, physical performer, preferably with clowning background. Plays mostly women but also a male character. Able to portray everything from a housekeeper to Our Heroine, and from an opera diva to a Mrs. Danvers-like chatelaine. Must have a facility with a variety of British dialects.

ACTOR ONE:
25-40. Male. Any ethnicity. Needs to be the kind of actor who can transform fluidly and quickly between characters, both with and without the assistance of a costume change. Plays Dr. Mortimer, Hall Porter, Man with Black Beard, Desk Clerk, Officer of the Law, Barrymore, Stapleton, Selden, Doctor, Mr. Frankland, Falstaff. Perhaps physically larger than Actor Two. Comedy and/or clown background preferred. Must have a facility with a variety of British dialects.

ACTOR TWO:
25-40. Male. Any ethnicity. Plays Hugo Baskerville, Bosworth, Baron Scarpia, Sir Henry Baskerville, Wilson, Inspector Lestrade. These characters are young and old, but he spends much of the play portraying a youthful, rich, and slightly dopy Texan. Also plays a female scullery maid. Comedy and/or clown background preferred. Must have a facility with a variety of British dialects as well as a Texas accent.

THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE:
Director: Stephen Bracket
First Rehearsal 7/18, Preview 8/3, Opening 8/4, Closing 8/19

seeking:

CASEY/GEORGIA:
mid-20s, male, Caucasian, southern. Casey: Charismatic and good-looking small-town high school football star turned Elvis impersonator; has the biggest of hearts and loves his wife ferociously; dreams big, if not always practically; his charm and optimism are infectious; hasn’t had to grow up and take real responsibility for his life/family just yet; an artist who hasn’t yet found his voice.; Georgia: A wholly original drag queen with Elvis, country and rock 'n' roll roots; gritty, edgy, sexy, a force of nature; a transcendent artist who inspires her audiences to dream of a better life; vulnerable, driven, responsible, and completely self-possessed; joyous and thrilling. Note: Role requires dancing in heels, lip syncing, singing and playing guitar.

JO:
mid-20s, female, African American, southern. Casey’s wife; a hard-headed woman married to a soft-hearted man; a realist who’s prone to being fatalistic, she grounds him, while he enables her to breathe and dream; tough without being bitchy, firm without being brittle; a steel rod for a spine; she loves him deeply and he’s the only person she feels safe showing her vulnerability to; works multiple service jobs struggling to keep them afloat and it’s taken a toll

EDDIE:
50s/60s, male, any ethnicity, southern. Easily flustered and financially-desperate owner of a struggling dive bar; rough around the edges, a bit of a walking ulcer, but a huge heart; ferociously loyal and loving to his makeshift family; a man of simple tastes and simple needs, he doesn’t take naturally to the stage as an emcee--but eventually becomes an amateur showman who loves the spotlight.

TRACY:
mid- to late 40s, male, any ethnicity, southern. Note: Matt McGrath will play this role, but casting personnel will need an understudy. Sweet-natured drag queen, and drag mother to Casey; her impeccable timing, wit, and charm can disarm anyone; deeply nurturing by nature, she thrives on being a mentor, but is ruthlessly pragmatic when she needs to be; ready to find a home and build something meaningful and lasting; equal parts inspiration and desperation. Role requires dancing in heels and lip syncing.

AMERICAN BUFFALO:
