Seeking
Don Juan and Others
Male, to play 30s-40s. Any Ethnicity. This actor portrays several different characters and should be able to transform physically and vocally in very little time and be proficient in a variety of dialects. He will primarily play Don Juan, a man who seduces women with ease and throws them way when he is bored. He is cynical, clever, charming, bold, arrogant, and enjoys the thrill of the chase. An atheist, he does not believe he serves any higher power and is extremely selfish. Don Juan is only out to please himself and follow his whims.
Sganarelle, Charlotte and Others
Female and Male to play 20s-30s. Any Ethnicity. This actor portrays several different characters and should be able to transform physically and vocally in very little time and be proficient in a variety of dialects. This actor will primarily play Sganarelle and Charlotte. Sganarelle is Don Juan’s devoted valet who travels everywhere with him. He is a coward and fears heaven’s retribution for Don Juan’s acts. He is smart, superstitious, nervous, and a bit greedy. Charlotte is a simple country girl and is frustrated with her relationship with Pierrot. Looking for a way out it, she is easily manipulated by Don Juan’s charm and status.
Donna Elvira, Pierrot, Don Carlos, and Others
Female or Male, to play 20s-30s, Any Ethnicity. This actor portrays several different characters and should be able to transform physically and vocally in very little time and be proficient in a variety of dialects. This actor will primarily play Donna Elvira Pierrot, and Don Carlos. Donna Elvira is Don Juan’s wife whom he charmed away from the convent to marry him. She is cold, smart, unrelenting, and pious. She agrees to let her brothers get revenge but ultimately is looking to save Don Juan’s soul. Pierrot is country peasant who saves Don Juan and Sganarelle from drowning. He has a large physical presence and strength but is not very bright. He is a simple man who just wants Charlotte to love him. Don Carlos is Donna Elvira’s brother and is extremely protective of his sister. He is seeking revenge on Don Juan for leaving his sister. He is deeply religious and resents that his sister left the convent.
