Seeking
Male and female actors and actors who sing for a variety of roles for the 2015-2016 season.

Preparation
Two monologues:one classical piece and one contemporary piece - combined length no more than 3 minutes. Singers should prepare a song from a traditional legit American musical standard. Accompanist will be provided. Bring current picture and resume, sheet music, AEA card.

Non-Traditional Casting: The Denver Center does not believe in discrimination based on color, race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, disabilities, gender, or otherwise. Character descriptions for new plays are as follows:

For FADE
Lucia – 30s/Americanized Mexican, fluent in Spanish/can code-switch between Spanish and English. Novelist experiencing her first TV writing gig, a freelance writer who has never had an office job before, moved from Chicago to LA, born in Mexico, unsure of herself and her new job environment, misses her boyfriend, puts her trust in Abel and uses him as a sounding board

Abel – 30s/Mexicanized American, fluent in Spanish, proud of his heritage. Hard-working janitor, grounded, humorous, passionate, born in California in a Mexican family, able to navigate the corporate office he works in while also staying true to himself, tells it like it is, has struggled and deals with it well


For THE NEST
Margo – 40s / Opinionated, office manager struggling with her co-workers and office environment, visits The Nest to blow off steam, not afraid to speak-up and challenge what others are saying, excellent comedic timing

Patrick – 40s / Hot head, thinks he’s still got it but he doesn’t, struggling to pay child support, schemer, has been going to The Nest since college, grew up there, has lost his way

Barry – 40s African American / Good friend, regular at The Nest, neutral party who tries to resolve conflict, content, humorous

Nick – 30/40s / Married to Laila, attractive, co-owns The Nest, bartender, everyone is in love with him, wild spirit stuck behind the bar who wants more

Laila – 30/40s / Married to Nick, co-owns The Nest, server, fiery, no-nonsense, content, deep attachment to the bar and her family’s history there, enjoys her work and place in life

Sam – 25/30 / Antique dealer, air of urban professionalism, sales shark, flirtatious, very attractive

Ned – 28/30 / Post doctorate in climatology, very intelligent, obsessed with viruses and the end of the world, wants to be right and wants to be heard, in a relationship with Irene

Irene – 28/30 / Female Studies professor, very intelligent, petite, loud, unapologetic, excellent comedic timing , in a relationship with Ned
