Cinderella

ELLA – is opinionated, charismatic, passionate, beautiful, funny, idealistic and hopeful. Always her late father’s daughter, she sees the good in everyone. We watch her blossom from a neglected offspring to a confident woman. Vocal Range: Soprano B:Eb5.

TOPHER – A misguided and lost prince who longs to do something important in his life. Charming, but not the stereotypical ladies man, he is thoughtful, appealing and innocent – with an unforced goofy streak. He is moral, genuine and kindhearted. He is at the crossroads and must take control of his kingdom. Vocal Range: Bariton C#3-A4.

MADAME – Ella’s selfish step-mother, she is the epitome of vanity and fashion. She is a ravenous social climber who values wealth, status and material possessions above all else. She is unapologetically dismissive and sometimes cruel. Vocal Range: Mezzo C4-D5.

SEBASTIAN – The kingdom’s Lord Chancellor. Though he is Topher’s trusted advisor, he is devious and selfish. Using propaganda and dishonesty, he keeps Topher isolated and in the dark about his kingdom. He rules without regard for the lower class, or anyone other than himself – and truly believes he deserves to rule the kingdom. Vocal Range: Tenor C3-F4.

MARIE – A friend to Ella and the town’s resident crazy lady and beggar woman. Marie is actually a fairy godmother in disguise. Wise, warm, otherworldly and charming, she rewards Ella for her kindness by making Ella’s dreams a possibility. Vocal Range: Soprano A3-Ab5.

GABRIELLE – Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. Encouraged by her mother and sister to value material wealth and social status, she unenthusiastically joins the in their abrasive behavior.

Quietly passionate, empathetic and witty, she is drawn to Ella and Jean-Michel. She is ironically aware that she doesn’t fit in. Vocal Range: Soprano C4-G5.

CHARLOTTE – Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. Brash, self-centered, materialistic, snooty, loud, sassy and bratty, she has a ridiculously high, but unfounded opinion of herself. She never passes up an opportunity to be the center of attention. Vocal Range: Mezzo (belt) B3-F5.

JEAN-MICHEL – A feisty, passionate peasant determined to make a change for the starving class. He is an impetuous firebrand but lacks authority and isn’t taken seriously as a revolutionary. He has a crush on Gabrielle, though their courtship is forbidden because they are from different social classes. Vocal Range: Baritone C3-G4.

LORD PINKLETON – The Lord Chancellor’s right-hand man. He announces royal balls, banquets, and even the weather to the villagers. Vocal Range: Tenor D3-A4

This character will need to dance and rap skills a plus.

Murder for Two

Casting two male actors for Murder for Two. Synopsis: Murder for Two is a madcap mystery mixing classic musical comedy with a dash of Agatha Christie—one actor investigates the crime, the other plays all of the suspects, and they both play the piano.

Note: Specific requirements for both actors: must play piano extremely well. The ability to read music and memorize a must (accompaniment versus soloing). Speaking, singing, and demonstrating physical comedy skills while playing is essential.

Marcus: (25-40) A young, eager police officer determined to make his mark on the crime-solving world, charming, earnest, sympathetic, happy and hopeful, straight-laced and totally by-the-book, nevertheless he greets most challenges with a warm smile, chipper (not grizzled), his good-natured demeanor prevails despite this very challenging case.

The Suspects: (25-40, male-identifying) This track includes a number of characters, some of which may be of various genders or ages. Multiple roles, a sharp and versatile performer able to transform from role to role on a dime, a vivid, believable and extraordinarily chameleon-like actor-musician; full list of characters is as follows: Arthur Whitney, a celebrated author, the murder victim; Mrs. Dahlia Whitney, the victim's wife, zaniest of all the suspects, a 58-year-old Southern woman whose dreams of a life in showbiz took a back seat as she fell into the shadows of her husband's career, but still harbors a deep and burning desire to perform, her logic borders on the ridiculous and cartoon; Barrette Lewis, a glamorous and sinister and highly aging ballerina, a femme fatale; Dr. Griff: a friendly old psychiatrist, the oldest of all the suspects, on a one-track mission to find a best friend and completely delusional about his relationship with Officer Marcus, desperate for affection and companionship; Steph Whitney, the inquisitive niece of Arthur and Dahlia Whitney, the most grounded of all the suspects, grad student studying criminology, eager and naive, the mousy girl next door who has not had many boyfriends; Murray Flandon, drill sergeant of a neighbor to the Whitneys, feisty, old, ever bickering, but madly in love with his wife, together they trade insults as foreplay; Barb Flandon, feisty, from Brooklyn, one to gossip with the girls, ever-bickering but madly in love with her husband; the Anachronistic Boy's Choir, from Badoinkaville, a tough-talking place, anachronistic yet droll, consisting of Timmy, the wise cracking leader; Yonkers, rough and tumble; and Skid, the slower member of the choir, held back a couple of years; and Henry Vivaldi, a proud local firefighter, the happiest firefighter in the world, like a Gilbert and Sullivan character.
