Breakdown
This production will approach Shakespeare's late romance, with a light touch, emphasizing the joy in storytelling, music, humor and multiple-role casting, with heightened physicality and theatricality. Performed with live music, including actors playing instruments, the production will utilize Celtic music sources as well as contemporary aesthetics, to capture the tensions of a changing world, in which jealousy and fear can threaten, but never stamp out, love. Doubling will be finalized according to actors cast, but possible breakdown of roles is as follows: Imogen -- woman, 20s Cymbeline/ Cornelius -- man, 40s-50s Posthumous/Cloten -- man, 20s-30s Queen/ Belarius -- woman, 40s-50s Iachimo/ Guiderius/ storyteller -- man or woman, 30s Pisanio/ Caius -- man, 30s-40s Philario/ Arviragus/ storyteller -- man or woman, 30s
