ACTOR 1. Albert Einstein MY LORD WHAT A NIGHT: White male; age 50’s-58 (German born, Jewish) He is boisterous, smart, quick, passionate, animated, verbal. Impish. He has a trickster spirit. This role requires a German accent. 1937-1939

ACTOR 2. Marian Anderson MY LORD WHAT A NIGHT: Black female; age 41. This role requires singing. Vocal type: contralto. One of the most celebrated singers of the 20TH century. She carries herself with great dignity. She is polite and mannered: reserved, dignified, but also warm and friendly. 1937-1939

ACTOR 3. Abraham Flexner MY LORD WHAT A NIGHT: White male (Jewish); age 60’s. Head of the Institute of Advanced Studies at Princeton University. He is exceedingly intelligent…a dedicated educator. He inspires confidence. He is dignified, polite, formal, well dressed and polished. He should be the polar opposite to Einstein. 1937-1939

ACTOR 4. Mary Church Terrell MY LORD WHAT A NIGHT: Black female; age range 50’s- 60’s. A civil rights activist and suffragist. She has the energy of a 30 year old. She is a high energy person who is highly competent. She has a wonderful way with words…She will not be stopped. She speaks the language of the 1930’s

ACTOR 5. Victoria WRECKED: Any ethnicity, female; age late 30’s- late 40’s. She is intelligent, attractive, and confident. On the surface she has it all together…but underneath she’s very high strung…filled with anxiety and fear. The role requires great comic timing—and also be able to play the darker side of her character. REPS WITH: Caruso SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: Any ethnicity, female; age 40. Chicago police officer. Smart, discerning. A straight shooter who can handle her own in a room of bros. She suffers no fools. Can manage her own expectations with clarity and purpose.

ACTOR 6. John WRECKED: Male; age late 40’s. He is smart, pragmatic, emotionally unflappable…a strategist, a thinker. He is also charming and witty with a healthy ego. He should have a good sense of humor. REPS WITH: Brian in SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: White male; age: late 40’s-50. He is a peacemaker and host. He is easily astonished and embraces non-Western philosophies-but executes through a fumbling male-lens…but he means well. He carries a rose colored glasses sense of the world but underneath that is a deep fear of aging. He is kind and caring. He wants to be cool and relevant. He is funny… Comedic chops a must for this role.

ACTOR 7. Lynn WRECKED: Any ethnicity, female; age 30’s-late 40’s. A born “actress.” Beautiful, melo-dramatic and charmingly self-absorbed. She is also youthful—physically and emotionally. She needs to appear likeable with great comic chops. REPS WITH: Caruso SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: Any ethnicity, female; age 40. A Chicago police officer. Smart, discerning. A straight shooter who can handle her own in a room of bros. She suffers no fools. Can manage her own expectations with clarity and purpose.

ACTOR 8. Alex WRECKED: Black male; age late 30’s- late 40’s. He has a dry sense of humor and a stinging wit. He is smart and a little insecure. He is an actor so he cares how he looks…this role requires super comic chops. REPS WITH: Delano in SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: Black male; age late 40’s-50. He is a keen observer and an outlier. He is wildly in love with his wife. He wants to be a good man, a good husband. He plays by the rules.

ACTOR 9. Chester CHESTER BAILEY: White male; age mid-20’s in 1945. He was brought up Catholic in Brooklyn. He is honest, handsome, a straight shooter and a dreamer. His ability to conjure through dreams is the thing that keeps him sane when his mind turns away from reality. He is smart, clever, good hearted, and deep down, afraid. He is inventive and romantic with an intense imagination.

ACTOR 10. Dr. Phillip Cotton CHESTER BAILEY: White male; age 50’s-60’s in 1945. He is observant, compassionate, and capable of surprising passion. He has a subtle sense of humor. He is handsome, friendly and intelligent. The savagery of World War II has damaged him, made it hard to believe in his skills.

ACTOR 11. Roger SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: White male; age 49. Big emotional topography…Pride/ballast/testosterone coupled with the ability to crack spaces of real fear/hope/longing. He brings honesty/self-reflection which is the surprise of Roger…Brute intelligence. Surprisingly reflective. There is sadness to Roger. He feels a bit out of time. REPS with: John WRECKED: White male; age 40’s. He is smart and pragmatic, emotionally unflappable…a strategist, a thinker. He is charming and witty with a healthy ego. He should have a good sense of humor.

ACTOR 12. Kevin SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: Puerto Rican male; age 25. He is energetic and ambitious. He is a multi-tasker and playful and an information junkie…he knows something about everything and can’t wait to share that knowledge.

ACTOR 13. Alex SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: Latinx, male: age 22 (on the cusp moment of adulthood.) The playwright describes him as “gender creative.” He can tap into his particular masculinity quickly. He sometimes wears nail polish…he is courageous…he carries a beauty that can live in lots of gender reads/perceptions.

ACTOR 14. Shananana Brown A WELCOME GUEST: Any ethnicity female; age 50’s-60’s. Mama Cass meets Janis Joplin; dreamy, sweet, daffy and 100% comfortable in her own skin. She knows her wiring isn’t like the diagram, and couldn’t care less. Her power is quiet and deep. Comic chops a must!

ACTOR 15. Frizzby Brown A WELCOME GUEST: Latin male; age 20’s (a 12 year old in a 30 year old body.) He speaks doggish…he can communicate and understands the language of dogs barking. This role requires strong comic chops.

ACTOR 16. Zazu Brown A WELCOME GUEST: Asian American; age 20’s. She is street smart, shrewd, and quick-witted. She has a shimmery hard beauty and her resting state is a pout.

ACTOR 17. Lucius Vangogo A WELCOME GUEST: Black male; age late 40’s-50’s. He is tall, slick-thin, booming voice; a man who has seen everything…several times. Pompous, self-important, deep orotund voice. Uncle Sam meets Shaka Zulu meets Ichabod Crane.

ACTOR 18. MacMoley Brown (Mac) A WELCOME GUEST: The dad-half Hell’s Angel, half Jolly Green Giant. He radiates size, mass, power, Big laugh, big glare, big anger, intimidating and loveable by turns…(Ron Perlman meets Wreckit Ralph.)

ACTOR 19. Nowak SUPPORT GROUP FOR MEN: White male; age mid 30’s. Chicago police officer. Confident with little filter. He can be provoking. REPS with: Alex WRECKED: Male; age late 30’s. He has a dry sense of humor and a stinging wit. He is smart and a little insecure. He is an “actor” so he cares about how he looks…this role requires super comic chops.

ACTOR 20. Shimeus Bak’quon A WELCOME GUEST: Male; otherworldly—a creation. He goes from being a quivering soft thing to a lethal underwater predator without transition. Quirky, brilliant; he knows his innate superiority to everything on earth. He hides this well…until he can’t.

ACTOR 21. CAST. Antonio ANTONIO’S SONG: Male. Mixed race (Latinx and Black). 40s-50s. Verile, masculine, with strong movement skills.
