Seeking:

Stella:
Female, Caucasian, early to mid-50s. Grew up working class but went to college and now is an ER nurse. Divorced with two adult children and one young granddaughter. She has an open personality and a quick, rough-talking sense of humor. Speaks without censoring herself, is attractive without being beautiful. Big-hearted with a lot of miles on her, she wants love and companionship as she enters her later years, and she’s sweet on Lou.

Lou
(This role is cast) – the owner of a Philly area bar, worked there all his life, 50's-60's.
Donnie: One of the bar regulars, a bit of a son to Lou. Needs to lose a few pounds, early 30’s. Engaged and trying to avoid going home to face the music after having a few too many. Ultimately a good guy, nervous about making a commitment.

_______

LAST GAS
by John Cariani
Rehearses June 20 – July 7
Performs July 8-31 (performances Thu-Sun weekly).
Seeking:

Dwight Paradis:
Nat’s father, 63, a larger-than-life kind of guy; rough around the edges. The theatre intends to cast Dwight as non-equity.

Nat Paradis (This role is cast):
almost 41, damaged goods, runs his father’s gas and convenience store in northern Maine. He’s been stuck for awhile and he’s depressed about it. Nat’s looking for direction. Years ago, he and his high school sweetheart had a plan to run away to NYC and begin a life together. She got away, but Nat never followed and may still have feelings for Lurene. Trouble is that Nat may also be feeling a deep, puzzling kinship for his best friend, Guy.

Guy Gagnon:
41, Nat’s best friend, a widower, stoic, steady, wry and fat, wants what’s best for Nat. Guy’s been burned in the past by relationships. He’s decided that he doesn’t have any more time to waste. Guy’s patient, honest, and has a wonderful, effective, dead pan humor. He’s ready to poke a stick at life and take a chance. He wants Nat to stand up and take the chance at a future with him.

Troy Paradis:
17, Nat’s son, an athlete and scholar with a future, wants to study aeronautical engineering. Troy’s trying to understand his father - whom he dearly loves, and whom he dearly loves to tease. Despite his positive outlook, he’s truly worried about his Dad. The theatre intends to cast Troy as non-equity.

Lurene:
41, Nat’s old flame. Left town for NYC to make something of herself. Had dreams of being an astronaut, but is a temp in a Manhattan office building. She’s in town for her Mom’s memorial service. Lurene’s also here to see if she can rekindle a spark with Nat. She talks a little faster than the rest of the folks in her old hometown, dresses a little slicker, and is discovering that it hurts to not fit in anymore.

Cherry Tracy:
41, Nat’s ex and Troy’s mother, a Forest Ranger, she’s outgoing and takes command, a problem solver, and a protector, who is frustrated in Nat’s inability to take control of his life. Yet, she’s stuck as well. She’d like to patch up her relationship with Nat. She’s a large personality, but a real one. She recently lost 31 lbs (but still looks “big boned”), and just wants to do what’s right.
