Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story:

Buddy Holly-American musician from Lubbock, TX. Central figure of mid 1950s rock and roll.

Joe B. Maudlin-Serious character with music ability from Lubbock, TX.

Jerry Allison-25 to 35 years old. Good looking from Lubbock, TX. Must be able to sing and play the drums.

Hipockets Duncan- Lubbock, TX disc jockey who gave Buddy his first opportunity.

Maria Elena- Young, Puerto Rican receptionist of Buddy's music publisher.

Big Bopper- 25 to 35 years old. Must command the stage and has a comedic flair. A former DJ from Texas, larger-than-life.

Norman Petty- American musician and record producer of Buddy, from Clovis, New Mexico.

Vi Petty- founded the studio with husband, Norman Petty. Lots of soul, a visionary from Clovis, New Mexico.

Ritchie Valens- 25 to 35 years old, Hispanic male. Serious charisma, an eye for women and the ability to command the stage.

Ensemble- Performers at Apollo/DJs/Hayriders of strong singers/movers.

Annie:

Annie- complex, tough, streetwise orphan who is motherly, independent and hopeful. (vocal range A3:D5)

Molly- gritty orphan, the littlest at age 6. Vocal range A3:B4

Kate- gritty, neglected orphan and the second to youngest at age 7. Vocal range C4:C5

Tessie- mischievous, a cry baby at age 11. Vocal range A3:C5

Pepper- always in fights, gritty orphan girl. The toughest at age 12. Vocal range C4:Bb4

July- vulnerable orphan, the quietest at age 13. Vocal range C4:D5

Duffy- is the oldest gritty orphan at age 13. Vocal range C4:D5

Miss Hannigan- a definite “has-been.” A strong actress with excellent comic timing and larger than life character. Vocal range G3:D5

Grace Farrell- Oliver Warbuck’s calm, cool, and classy secretary. Businesslike with Warbucks, but maternal towards Annie. Vocal range D4:C5

Rooster Hannigan-part of the comic team to be Annie’s parents, but is revealed to be Miss Hannigan’s swindling brother. Flashy and self-assured. Vocal range G3:Bb4

Lily St. Regis-the other part of the comic team to be Annie’s parents, but is revealed to be Rooster’s sleazy girlfriend in disguise. Naturally funny. Vocal range Bb3:Bb4

Oliver Warbucks- daunting millionaire who made his fortune during World War I as an industrialist. Middle-aged, self-assured and confident. Vocal range A3:D5

Ensemble Roles: Apple Seller, Lt. Ward, Bert Healy, Bundles, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Louis Howe, Star(s)-to-be, Usherette

Drake And Servants- Head Servant and loyal domestic help of Oliver Warbucks. May be double cast as New Yorkers.

New Yorkers- characters identified by their occupation in New York City, such as street vendors, mothers and children, tourists, news reporters, etc.

The Full Monty:

Jerry Lukowski- male,30 to 40, C4:D6 An unemployed mill worker, fighting to maintain his pride and the custody of his only son. All-American jock and the definitive man's man. Spontaneous. Very prideful.

Pam Lukowski-female, 25 to 35, B3:A5 Jerry's estranged wife and high school sweetheart. She wants what is best for her son. Strong business woman, but also compassionate and motherly.

Dave Bukatinsky-male, 30 to 40, C4:E6 Jerry's best friend and fellow unemployed mill worker. Very much a man's man, but more of a follower than leader. The definitive sidekick. Prideful. Self-conscious about his size.

Georgie Bukatinsky-female, 30 to 40, G3:A5 Dave's wife. She loves her husband, and worries about him. Loud, outgoing and brash. She is the leader of her group of girlfriends.

Harold Nichols-male, 35 to 45, B3:A5 An unemployed supervisor at the mill. Hot Metal's choreographer. Thinks his worth comes from providing for his wife, so he hides his unemployment from her.

Vicki Nichols-30 to 40, G3:A5Harold's wife. She enjoys the finer things in life. Loves her husband more than anything, and supports him no matter what.

Malcolm Macgregor-25 to 35, C4:E6 An unemployed mill worker. Lives at home with his mother. Depressed, suicidal, awkward, and feeble. Pigeon-chested. Finds comfort in Ethan.

Ethan Girard-25 to 35, D3:A5 An unemployed mill worker. Lonely. Has a blind determination and confidence to succeed. Finds company with Malcolm.

Noah horse T. Simmons-50 to 60, F2:B5 A retired mill worker. Embarrassed about being an average sized Black man. Despite being old and slow when walking, he still has explosive dance moves. Frequently grumpy.

Jeanette Burmeister-65 to 75, F4:B5 A piano player of indeterminate years and show-business pro. Sassy, quick-witted, and larger than life. Has slowed down in recent years.
