CASTING BREAKDOWN:

EL YAMASAKI BROOKS
(early 30s) - a white female playwright on the verge of artistic success. Her anxiousness gives way to a burgeoning sense of self-confidence that can be both charming and biting. An endearing blend of Annie Baker, Felicity Porter, and Tracy Flick. This actor also plays JUSTIN (early 30s) - a white male pop star who after a lifetime of fame and success is ready to let his inner artistic passions fly free no matter the cost. A sensitive soul that can melt hearts with a wink. He knows his power and kind of hates it...kind of. Think Timberlake, Bieber, and Dawson all rolled into one.

TODD-MICHAEL SMYTH
(50s) - the white male artistic director of New York Theater Group. He has had a very successful career in the biz and is happy to tell you all about it. He comes from humble beginnings and while his work ethic has faltered over the years, his captivating charm and heart of gold have not. A lovable Lou Grant.

LIZ COHEN
(early 30s) - a female director of color determined to climb the ladder of success on her own terms. She plays by her own rules and will charm you into doing the same. A passionate free spirit, her confidence and candor can be both admirable and a little bit scary. Madonna meets Anna Deavere Smith.

BETH – This role has been cast.
