Present at the audition will be Kevin Connors (Artistic Director and CABARET director), Jim Schilling (managing director), Tom Conroy (musical director), and Alex Mongillo (administrative manager)

OTHER DATES

CABARET rehearses at the theatre March 16 - 28, 2019. The production runs March 29 - April 14, 2019 - Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm & 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. MTC is one hour via Metro North (New Haven Line) from Grand Central and Metro North train fare is paid by the theatre.

Music Theatre of Connecticut, currently in its 32nd season, is located in Norwalk, CT. The company has won numerous Best awards and Connecticut Crtitics' Circle Awards and Nominations, including the prestigious Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Professional Theatre, joining Long Wharf, Hartford Stage and the Westport Playhouse.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

BREAKDOWN

EMCEE – tenor, 30-50; the host/master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub--presented as a gender-questionable character comfortable with being close to both men and women; comedic, lovable; charismatic, great dancer; appearance flexible, speaks with a German accent.

SALLY BOWLES – soprano w/ strong belt; 25 – 35, a British cabaret singer at the Kit Kat Klub, a quirky character who comes across as flighty, yet at times struggles with knowing the darkness of the reality of her life as a cabaret performer; strong dance; speaks with a British accent.

CLIFF BRADSHAW – bari/tenor; an American novelist and English teacher traveling to Berlin; a closeted gay man exploring his sexuality; light dance/stage combat; speaks with an American accent.

FRAULEIN KOST – alto/belter; 30 – 40, another of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers, earns money by offering favors to sailors, exhibits a strong sexual comfort and commanding nature; good dance; speaks with a German Accent

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER - alto; 50+, a landlady who rents rooms in her large flat; comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz); speaks with a German accent.

HERR SCHULTZ - tenor; 50+, one of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers and the proprietor of a fruit shop; comfortable with stage movement and light dance; speaks with a German accent.

ERNST – baritone, 30-40, friendly and likable German, takes English lessons from Cliff, and smuggles funds for the Nazi party; some stage combat/light dance, speaks with a German accent.

MAN 1 – great singer/dancer who acts well, tenor, 24-30, plays multiple roles including Nazi Youth singing “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”
