BREAKDOWN
Billy Bishop began his military career as one of the worst cadets in military school and went on to become Canada’s most decorated World War I flying ace. He is charming, funny and eager to make his mark, but undisciplined and a real trouble-magnet. After a period of wading through the muck of the British infantry, he talks himself into the air corps and soon discovers he has a knack for flying. As he grows more skilled and confident, his enthusiasm is tempered by the realities of war. Accompanied by a pianist, Billy tells and sings his story, playing multiple characters along the way: officers, fellow soldiers, a seductive cabaret singer and an imperious British lady among them. Ability to do a Canadian accent a plus.
Seeking an actor who sings for
Billy: male, age range: 35-65
Billy can be played as a younger man, recounting fairly recent episodes in his life; or as an older man looking back on his life.
