BREAKDOWN

Set in the early 1920s in Milwaukee, and inspired by harrowing true events, BEAST ON THE MOON follows the lives of an immigrant refugee and his teenage, mail-order bride. Seta and Aram are two polar opposites who have one tragic experience in common. The play unfolds around the effort of the couple to have a child. Infertility threatens not only their dreams, but also their relationship, until the presence of an orphaned boy forces them to reckon with each other and the past. Peppered with humor, irony, and bittersweet surprise, theirs is a universal story of hope, healing, redemption, and finally, love.

BEAST ON THE MOON has been performed in over 20 countries and has been translated into 19 languages.

SEEKING:

ARAM – a swarthy young man, 23, Armenian immigrant, trying to replace his family lost in the genocide. He carries a heavy heart, and opinionated about the roles of men and women. ARMENIAN ACCENT REQUIRED.

SETA - a young woman, Armenian immigrant, 18 and up to play 15. Eager and grateful, she is Aram’s mail-order bride, who escapes the Armenian genocide as well. She is caring, trying to find her way in a new land, and gains strength with time. ARMENIAN ACCENT REQUIRED.

VINCENT - a 12-year-old, an urchin on the streets of Milwaukee, of Italian descent. He was orphaned and is living under challenging and difficult circumstances. Please note: we are open to considering actors who are really this age, or can play this age. Please note age on submission if under 18.

A GENTLEMAN – ROLE CAST A genial gentleman in his 60s. Of Italian descent. He is the narrator in the story, and we discover that he is actually Vincent at an older age.
