BREAKDOWN
[LOUIS IRONSON]
Louis Ironson: Late 20s - Mid 30s. Male. Caucasian. Jewish. Neurotic, full of guilt and anxiety, too intellectual for his own good. Works as a clerk in a courthouse. In the face of his partner, Prior, possibly dying...Louis’ fear of abandonment gets the best of him. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[PRIOR WALTER]
Prior Walter: Late 20s - Mid 30s. Male. Caucasian. A gregarious and sharp-tongued man who struggles with his own mortality. And why all of his friends are dying. And if there is a God. Prior comes from a long line of wealthy WASPs…and brilliant drag queens. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[ROY COHN]
Roy Cohn: 50s – early 60s. Male. Caucasian. Jewish. Very successful and wealthy lawyer and power player. One of US history’s true villains, he is vicious, scheming, and uses his influence to avoid consequences. He lives somewhere behind the deepest wall of the closet, and the corner of Christopher Street. His denial of his own sexuality, and eventual illness, lead him to a battle royale unlike any other. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[JOE PITT]
Joe Pitt: Late 20s - Mid 30s. Male. A practicing Mormon…failing spectacularly at his practice. A good-looking, successful Republican, married to Harper. Very closeted. Very. Until he isn’t. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[HARPER PITT]
Harper Pitt: Late 20s - Mid 30s. Female. A Mormon housewife whose Valium habit has spiraled out of control. In her attempt to escape her painful marriage with Joe, she often finds herself in the middle of vivid hallucinations. On the other hand, she tells some of the most authentic truths throughout the entire set of plays. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[BELIZE]
Belize: Late 20s - Late 30s. Male. African-American. Former drag queen and currently, a registered nurse. Best friends with Prior, and, oddly, Roy’s caregiver. Belize is fashionable, funny, and comfortable in his own skin. He is the clarity we yearn for in most situations. Also plays additional roles as cast.
[THE ANGEL]
The Angel: 30s - 50s. Cis-Female or Trans-Female. Any ethnicity. A dominating and intense presence who delivers a prophecy to Prior. We are seeking physically-trained/movement-heavy actors for this role, given that there is a significant physical life to this character, including flying. Also plays additional roles as cast.
