Seeking (all listed roles are available, and will be considered for AEA contracts):

Note: All characters are African American, early 20s – mid 30s. All performers must be excellent singers with a wide range, able to handle powerful solos and intricate jazz harmonies with rhythmical precision. All should be able to move well and handle choreography with ease. All must have impeccable comic timing.

Ken:

Filled with a lust for life and everything it has to offer. Enjoys the finer things, but also has no problem getting down and dirty. Loves women, food and liquor—he knows how to have a good time. Exceedingly stylish and smooth. He is a man of larger stature, is comfortable in his own skin and moves through the world with a sleek sophistication. High tenor.

Andre:

Oozes sexuality in every move he makes and every word he sings. Has style, grace and charm, but lurking underneath is a dark side. Superb dancer; can take on any style of dance thrown at him. Well-built. Attracts everything and everyone around him. Has a great sense of humor, and interacts with the audience often. High baritone with some bass notes.

Nell:

Her voice can bring you to tears with a simple ballad, and send chills up your spine with a soulful tune. She is sassy, witty and sexy. Voluptuous; uses all her “assets” to her advantage. Knows how to turn on the girlish charm, but has the strength and backbone of a mature woman. Has superb comic timing and knows how to kill with her one-liners. High alto with high belt.

Armelia:

A “lady” in every sense of the word. Has the elegance and grace of the great Sarah Vaughan. There is warmth that exudes from her, and she immediately puts people at ease. Has a maternal and nurturing side, but there is a coy sensuality that moves through her and comes out when she sings. Finds the joy and laughter in every situation. High soprano.
