APPOINTMENTS

For an appointment, please visit http://www.actorsplayhouse.org/audition_apmt_form_2019_2020.htm and fill out all the fields. Actors will receive a confirmation. Actors without Internet access may call (305) 444-9293 extension 602 for an appointment. Online applications are preferred when possible. Appointments strongly encouraged, however Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day as time permits.

Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles in the upcoming 19-20 season.

All Stage Manager/Assistant Stage Manager positions have been filled for the upcoming season. See separate notice on Casting Call for future consideration info.

PREPARATION

If singing: Please prepare two contrasting 16-bar pieces or 1 32-bar selection and a one-minute monologue (contemporary preferred). Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No a cappella singing or singing to playback.

If not singing: Please prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues or one two-minute monologue.

All actors: Please bring two copies of your headshot/resume.

Sophie Sheridan (Female, 20-25) Donna’s headstrong daughter, Sophie is determined to have what her mother never had: a traditional family and a father to walk her down the aisle. Young, bright and energetic, she has lived all her life on the island and is ready to leave. Harry Bright (Male, 40-50) Another of Sophie’s potential fathers and a respected London banker. Once a head-banging, partying musician who went down the straight road – at least with his career. He is quirky, in the closet and something of a romantic nostalgist. A nice guy, determined to make up for some past regrets and full of singing. (Thank You for the Music, Our Last Summer, among others) Vocal range top: F#4 Vocal range bottom: C#3

Sky (Male, 20-30) Sophie’s fiancé; a former stockbroker who moved to the island in a young version of a mid-life crisis. He is older than Sophie, but smitten by her exotic charm. Perhaps he is too eager to please and has not quite found all the answers he had hoped for on the island. (Lay All Your Love on Me, among others) Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: Eb3

Tanya (Female, 40-50) One of Donna’s oldest and best friends, Tanya has married several millionaires and discovered a lot more about plastic surgery than love – to the extent that she was ever looking. Wild, fun-loving and a big character, she flirts mercilessly with young men, happy to play, but not stick around. (Chiquitita, Dancing Queen, Super Trooper, Does Your Mother Know, among others) Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: E3

Reveler #1, Squire Dap, Mordred (Male, 20-30) The illegitimate son of Arthur, Mordred is bound to destroy his kingdom. A truly evil young man, who was “sired” by Arthur when the knight was young and naïve. He is a thoroughly and fascinatingly unlikeable fellow. His mother is Queen Morgause, who bewitched Arthur when he was younger. Mordred has come to the Round Table to stir up trouble. (Vocal range top: D4 Vocal range bottom: C3)

Reveler #6, Arthur (Male, 25-40) Ruler of Camelot. He served as a simple squire until he managed to pull King Pendragon’s sword out of the stone and became King. He desires to rule fairly and create a land where justice and honor are held in high esteem. An idealistic, compassionate, boyish and generous young King. He tends to be unsure of himself, but serves as a huge inspiration to others and strives to lead based on honor and chivalry. (Vocal range top: Eb4 Vocal range bottom: A2)

Reveler #7, Guenevere (Female, 20-35) A young, beautiful and spirited young woman who’s soon to be queen. She is caught up in chivalry and the exciting possibilities of a promising life. She does not want to marry Arthur at first, but when she meets him and sees the beauty in Camelot she falls in love. She is devoted to Arthur and supports his causes. She is suddenly thrown with the arrival of Lancelot, which starts the famous love triangle between herself, him and Arthur. (Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: B3)


Reveler #8, Lancelot (Male, 20-35) An abundantly self-assured knight from France and a skilled warrior. Lancelot comes to be a Knight of the Round Table. He is extremely pious and not particularly well liked by anyone except Arthur. He is a passionate disciple of Arthur and his Round Table. He is “The Greatest Knight in the World,” whose only weakness is his love for Guenevere. He is very used to excelling at everything. (Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: A2)

Hercule Poirot (Male, 55-65) a famous Belgian detective; a “Big” personality; authoritative, witty, charismatic and slightly pompous; driven to find the answers, good or bad, with a strong moral sense; very aware of his ability and his well deserved reputation.

Monsieur Bouc (Male, 30-59) a Belgian man of good humor; playful, proud, generous; a predilection for grandeur; a whirlwind of energy; must be an excellent comedian.

Mary Debenham (Female, 30-39) an English beauty; a governess, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardnessa bout her person.

Hector MacQueen (Male. 30-40) tightly wound, edgy and nervous; he seems to always be on the verge of falling apart or coming unwound. American.

Michel the Conductor/Head Waiter (Male, 35-59) one actor will play two roles; Michel: a good-looking Frenchman, about 40, a quiet, almost grave sense of humor; unfailingly polite; Head Waiter: a Turkish waiter, snooty, smooth; must have great comic timing.

Princess Dragomiroff (Female, 60-79) a Russian dowager; very formal, a sweeping, impressive presence; imperial, impatient.

Greta Ohlsson (Female, 20-69) inherently odd, and very devout Swedish woman; a frightened, sheeplike quality; must be an excellent comedienne with an impeccable Swedish accent.

Countess Andrenyi (Female, 20-39) brilliantly beautiful, like something out of a fairytale; impeccably put together, with a warmth that wins over everyone she meets; her delicacy belies a steely edge: she is no wilting flower; Hungarian accent.

Helen Hubbard (Female, 40-65) loud, in need of constant attention. Espouses Western ideals. A comedy of the “American woman.”

Colonel Arbuthnot/ Samuel Ratchett (Male, 35-59) Colonel: hard-willed. Polite. Very “English”; Ratchett: middle-aged American business man with a threatening demeanor
