BREAKDOWN

ABOUT
A Small Fire follows Emily Bridges a woman used to running all the things – from her construction business to her family – until she suddenly and mysteriously starts losing her physical senses. As the groud shifts beneath her, her relationships shift in poignant and revelatory ways.

NOTE: Bebe Neuwirth is set to play Emily.

SEEKING

JOHN: (Male, early 40’s to late 60’s) Emily’s doting husband. A kind and loving father and husband. Doesn’t necessarily “wear the pants” in his marriage. Affectionate and warm but naive to some of the harsh realities of life. Any ethnicity. Salary negotiable.

JENNY: (Female, mid 20’s to mid 30’s) Emily and John’s only daughter. Very close with her father, but estranged from her mother because she truly doesn’t understand her. Young, strong, and slightly resentful. Any ethnicity.

BILLY: (early 30’s to mid 40’s) a manager in Emily’s construction firm. Warm-hearted, loyal, and extremely wise. Lost his partner to HIV and it has changed him for the better. He is a strong source of comfort in some form to Emily and John throughout the play. Any ethnicity. Strongly encourage actors of color.
