Seeking
Actors for the 2014-15 season at A Noise Within. This audition is for plays only, a musical audition will be held at a later date.

Preparation
Please prepare a contemporary monologue no more than 2 minutes in length and have a Shakespearean monologue ready if asked.

Seeking:
John Worthing, J.P. – A seemingly respectable gentleman that lives a double life. John goes by the nickname “Jack” in the country, where he lives responsibly as the head of his country estate. In London, he goes by “Ernest”, and lives as a libertine. In order to escape to the city more regularly, he has invented a wild brother named “Ernest” that he must get out of trouble.

Algernon Moncrieff – A witty, idle bachelor. Best friend to John (whom he knows as Ernest), cousin to Gwendolen, and nephew to Lady Bracknell. He pretends to be John’s “brother”, Ernest, in order to get closer to Cecily.

Gwendolen Fairfax – the sophisticated object of John’s affections. She is in love with John, whom she believes is named Ernest. She says she will not marry a man if he is not named Ernest.

Cecily Cardew – John’s ward. She is the granddaughter of the man who found and adopted John. She is fascinated by the
escapades of John’s (fake) brother Ernest,

Antonio, Suzanne’s Uncle, Fanchette’s father, and gardener of the castle
Dr. Bartholo, a doctor (unwittingly Figaro’s father)

Brutus, Caesar’s friend and a strong supporter of the republic. He is worried that Caesar desires to dissolve the Roman Republic to become the supreme ruler of Rome.

Casca, Roman dignitary who disapproves of Caesar’s growing power.
Octavius, Caesar’s adopted son. Next in line for the throne.
