Theatre Aspen Announces Inaugural One-person Show Festival SOLO FLIGHTS

Producing Director Jed Bernstein announced today that Theatre Aspen will launch the organization's inaugural one-person show festival, Solo Flights, next September following the 2019 summer season in Aspen, Colorado.

An annual festival of events created to complement the Theatre Aspen mainstage season, Solo Flights will consist of one-person shows that run the gamut from developmental works-in-process to fully-staged productions and will include pieces from stars of stage and screen, comedians, and emerging talent alike.

The week-long festival will also include a range of signature events, including talkbacks and special guest interview panels. The inaugural Solo Flights is set to begin the week of September 16, 2019, and will be presented at multiple venues in downtown Aspen, including Theatre Aspen's Hurst Theatre.

"As we continue to expand the Theatre Aspen footprint, Solo Flights will create a much-needed home for this important artform and a national platform for this type of work to be nurtured, presented, and talked about," says Bernstein. "We look forward to welcoming the theatre community at large to beautiful downtown Aspen for our very first festival next fall."

As previously announced, the 2019 summer season is set to include the Frank Loesser, Jo Swerling, and Abe Burrows Tony Award-winning musical Guys and Dolls, directed by Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster, along with a newly reimagined production of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's Little Shop of Horrors directed by Theatre Aspen stalwart Mark Martino. Additionally, the Theatre Aspen Summer Conservatory will present a student production of The Wizard of Oz. A main-stage play, as well as complete creative team members and casting will be announced in early 2019.
