A talented collection of Broadway vets led by Tony winner Betty Buckley gathered together for a one-night-only concert 'A BROADWAY BIRTHDAY: SONDHEIM, LLOYD WEBBER, AND FRIENDS' at Segerstrom Concert Hall on March 28, 2024 to celebrate the legacy—and coincidental same birthdate—of musical theater royalty Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim.
Hosted by Scott Coulter at OC's Segerstrom Center, this beautifully-curated 'greatest hits' showcase celebrating Olivia Newton-John provided an entertaining tribute, delivered via superb performances from the likes of Jessica Hendy, David Burnham, and Mike Schwitter, plus a first-person testimonial from her longtime producer John Farrar.
In December 2023, the OC welcomed back two powerhouse vocalists who each gave their own respective holiday-themed concerts: Broadway fave Megan Hilty at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa; and recording artist Linda Eder at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. To no one's surprise, both entertained and awed with their spectacular talents.
Hopelessly Devoted: The Music of Olivia Newton-John Presented By Segerstrom Center for the Arts is a musical event featuring the iconic songs of Olivia Newton-John. Contact Segerstrom Center for the Arts for more information.
On November 16-18, 2023, Segerstrom Center for the Arts's Samueli Theater welcomed back FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, the hit Broadway-skewering parody show that pokes fun at the Great White Way. Aimed as a 'greatest hits' iteration, the show was a (mostly) funny 2-Act program, but a lot of its material proved surprisingly outdated and out-of-touch.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts willpresent an exceptional lineup of breathtaking dance performances, captivating headliner shows, and engaging in conversation series that will leave audiences inspired and mesmerized. Learn more about the lineup here!
Originally scheduled back in September, the wait was worth it to hear Laura Benanti sing selections from her roles on Broadway and a few tracks from her 2020 self-titled studio album in her debut Cabaret at the Center which was part uproarious stand-up comedy act, and part beguiling Broadway/Jazz concert. Continues through November 13, 2021.
One enthusiastic parent whose child participated in Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Musical Theatre Training Program this past fall said, “Please offer more musical theatre classes soon!” And so, the Center’s Education Department has announced a new series of classes for aspiring young performers ages 9-18 in February.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts is offering its first Fall Musical Theatre Training Program for young people ages 9-18 years of age. Tony® and Emmy Award winner Lillias White returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Cabaret Series with an autobiographical show filled with musical highlights from her life and career January 23 - 25, 2020 in Samueli Theater. With her powerhouse voice and exuberant stage presence, White has won accolades for her show-stopping performances on the Broadway stage, on television and in films. The New York Times declared, 'Lillias White is a singer who makes the most challenging vocal feats look almost easy.'
Here's my understatement of the year so far: Broadway star Megan Hilty is one of the most delightful creatures that has ever graced a stage. This was wonderfully confirmed all throughout the Tony Award nominee's Segerstrom Center for the Arts Cabaret series solo debut, which recently opened to an enthusiastic, candlelit crowd Thursday night and continues for two more performances through November 16, 2019 at the Samueli Theater in Costa Mesa. Beautiful, quirky, bawdy, self-deprecating, and undeniably talented, Ms. Hilty was thoroughly engaging and entertaining during her nearly 80-minute acoustic set backed by musical director and principal pianist Matt Cusson and her bassist/guitarist husband, fellow Broadway performer Brian Gallagher.
Tony-Award winning Broadway, film and TV actress/singer Betty Buckley is fresh off her year long acclaimed run in the First National Tour of the new production of the Broadway Hit Hello, Dolly! She is preparing to kick off the 2019-2020 Cabaret Series at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts at the Samueli Theater October 17 a?' 19 in Costa Mesa.
