The Bolshoi Ballet's Production Of Don Quixote Comes To The Big Screen In Hd At The Ridgefield Playhouse

The Bolshoi Ballet's production of Don Quixote comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse Sunday, January 6 at 2pm in an encore presentation recorded in Moscow. Inspired by heroic stories of brave knights, with his faithful servant Sancho Panza at his side, Don Quixote sets out on an adventure to meet his ideal woman, Dulcinea. With panache and sparkling technique, principal dancers Ekaterina Krysanova and Semyon Chudin lead the spectacular cast of toreadors, flamenco dancers, gypsies, and dryads in the Bolshoi's critically-acclaimed staging of this exalted performance. A quintessential Bolshoi event, this screening is part of the Atria Senior Living Classical Series with support from Whistle Stop Bakery. The series is underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Liz & Steven Goldstone, and Sabina & Walter Slavin.

Captured live on April 10, 2016, Cervantes' hero comes to life in the Bolshoi's critically acclaimed staging of this remarkable performance, with music by Léon Minkus, Choreography by Alexei Fadeyechev and Libretto by Marius Petipa after Miguel de Cervantes. Don Quixote, having read his fill of romances about knights and chivalry, decides to set off on his travels in order to achieve great feats, which will bring glory to his name. As his sword-bearer, he chooses the loyal Sancho Panza, a man of sober outlook who is not prone to dreams.
