Davidson Community Players Announces 2019 Season - MAMMA MIA! and More!

As Davidson Community Players wraps up a successful 2018 "The Magic of Theatre" season, they are now ready to introduce the productions for their 2019 Season, titled "Escape. Imagine. Enjoy." In addition to their Main Stage and Connie Company season, DCP is continuing to produce a "Special Event" show that is not part of the season subscription but will be sold as a standalone show.

"Patrons have come to rely on DCP to produce the highest quality theatre in the Lake Norman region, and 2019 will be no exception. We've chosen a season that provides great mix of entertaining shows all year round, " said Executive Director Matt Merrell. "Featuring familiar titles and playwrights, our 2019 season offers something for everyone."

Season ticket subscriptions are now available at a significant discount. Visit DavidsonCommunityPlayers.org for more information or call the box office at 704-892-7953.

The 2019 Davidson Community Players Main Stage Season:

Benedictions (February 21-March 10) at Armour Street Theatre

Jesse Bradshaw Warren is a Presbyterian minister who appears to have everything: she's the senior minister in a large church and she's happily married with two sons. When David Mack Kelly, a young gay man, comes to see her for counseling, his presence in the church seems to worry others, and Jesse starts to feel the conflict between her fondness for him, the animosity toward him from others, and his challenges to her doctrine and beliefs. Then, she faces an unspeakable family tragedy, and everything in Jesse's life comes into question: her work as a minister, her marriage and her belief in God.

Mamma Mia! (June 20-30) at Duke Family Performance Hall

ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. On the eve of her wedding, her quest brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise.

The Comedy of Tenors (July 18-28) at Duke Family Performance Hall

Four tenors, two wives, three girlfriends, one hotel suite and a stadium filled with screaming fans. What could possibly go wrong? It's 1930s Paris and the stage is set for the concert of the century-as long as producer Henry Saunders can keep Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hot-blooded wife, Maira, from causing chaos. Prepare for an uproarious ride, full of mistaken identities, bedroom hijinks and madcap delight.

Wait Until Dark (September 26 - October 13) at Armour Street Theatre

A terrifying game of cat and mouse takes place in the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Desperate to regain a mysterious doll stuffed with illegal drugs, con man Harry Roat Jr., with the help of two criminal sidekicks and clever disguises, spin a tale to fool the unsuspecting Susy. When the doll cannot be found, the situation spins out of control as all wait until dark to play out the classic chilling conclusion.
