Youth On-Stage offers scholarships in The Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory’s rigorous Young Actors Program to youth who have the interest and discipline to pursue performing arts training but lack the financial resources. Youth On-Stage is funded through the Arts Motivating Youth (A.M.Y.) program, created in 1991 to ensure accessibility to the performing arts for the entire community and to promote public awareness of the role of the arts in the quality of life and economic development. The Young Actors Program reserves one-half of its places for need-based scholarship students.

Studio Theatre is Washington’s premier venue for contemporary theatre, “where local audiences will find today’s edgiest playwrights” (Variety). Studio produces the work of today’s greatest writers, augmented by occasional productions of modern classics. Studio's work is marked by its emphasis on excellence in acting and design, and the signature intimacy of its four theatres, all of which seat fewer than 225 patrons. The quality of this work has been recognized over its 41-year history by sustained community support and 72 Helen Hayes Awards for excellence in professional theatre.

An Die Musik Partners With Local Playwright For World Premiere Of HAND THROUGH THE VEIL                                         by A.A. Cristi - September 20, 2021

The story is compelling and original. Renowned author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has spent years in pursuit of contact with the other side. Famed magician Harry Houdini has been on a parallel journey to debunk the very notion. With the help of the brash and unpredictable medium, Mina Crandon, the two come to the table for one final seance. The baggage all three bring with them results in a chaotic and strange experience that none will ever forget.

Theatre Life with Sarah Marshall by Elliot Lanes - February 07, 2019

Today's subject, Sarah Marshall, has had a long and distinguished DC theater career that spans over three decades. You can currently see her in Admissions at Studio Theatre – one of her theater homes. The production runs through March 3rd.

Theatre Life with Joy Zinoman and Logan Vaughn by Elliot Lanes - April 17, 2017

Today's subjects, Joy Zinoman and Logan Vaughn, are currently living their theatre lives over on H Street at Mosaic Theater Company. They are the directors for the company's current South Africa: Then & Now repertory, which is comprised of the Athol Fugard's classic Blood Knot and the newer A Human Being Died That Night by Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela and adapted for the stage by Nicholas Wright. The rep represents the old and the new. It's appropriate that Mosaic's genius Artistic Director Ari Roth has enlisted a veteran director of over 50 years and a hot up-and-coming director to bring the plays to vivid life onstage at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
