Two Stars Join GABRIELLA Cast

Award-Winning Producer/Director Sam Borowski announced two new cast members to his latest production, a short titled Gabriella. The Indie Veteran will return to the director's chair with an original script he wrote.

As previously reported on Broadway World, the film about a waitress named Gabriella, who is obsessed with movies, and dealing with a creepy customer named Joe, who is in turn obsessed with her, will star young ingénue, Devony DiMattia in the title role, Joe Gannascoli, best known for his role as Vito Spatafore from The Sopranos as a shady character Gabriella suspects is a mobster and John Calvanico as the potential stalker, Joe.

Borowski announced today that Samantha Benson and Hardie Duhaney have been chosen as the Open Call Winners on Clapit. who did some additional casting for the film, for the characters of Heather and Starman, respectively. Founded by Mary Jane Bulseco and Paul Bedwell, Clapit provides Open Calls for actors for features and shorts.

"Honestly, when I was approached by Award-Winning director John Gallagher and producer Howard Nash about the platform, I had no idea there would be so many talented actors on Clapit," said Borowski. "There also was another talented young actress named Giana Carli, whose work I liked and I wouldn't hesitate to use her for something in the future, if she was right for it.

"Very grateful for Mary Jane Bulseco and the wonderfully successful campaign she ran to help me find these two newcomers."

Heather is a supporting character that banters with Gabriella throughout the film, as the title character bounces scenarios off of her. Benson will be flying in from California for the role.

"I am very excited to work with Sam Borowski, he has worked with some very talented people and I look forward to his direction and guidance, I know I will learn a lot from him," Benson said. "I am so thankful to MJ Bulseco and the Clapit team for helping to make this possible."

Duhaney, a resident of Oceanside, New York, was equally excited about the upcoming production.

"After submitting my audition, I was discovered by the amazing director and producer Sam Borowski," Duhaney smiled. "It's going to be an absolute privilege working with (Sam). He's given me the opportunity to work with some very talented actors including Joseph Gannascoli from The Sopranos!"

Indeed, Gabriella has assembled a very interesting cast and Borowski assures us he's not done yet. He promises us another big announcement or two, before shooting.

Described as a "dark comedy," Gabriella is set at a Diner in the New York/New Jersey Tri-State area; "Bam-A-Lam Burger" at Route 35 in Sayerville, New Jersey.

Nick Turco, who shot the soon-to-be-released short, In This Moment, will serve as Director of Photography. This will reunite Turco and Borowski. Turco served in the same role for In This Moment, while Borowski produced for first-time director, Taylor Salotti.

Ironically, the roles will be REVERSED as Salotti will be producing alongside Borowski, as he returns to the director's chair. Also on the producing staff will be Melissa Singh.

"I'm excited to work with this young cast. I believe they will learn a lot from working with a veteran and professional such as Joe," Borowski said. "We are just eight days away from shooting."

Gabriella begins principal photography on December 18th in the Tri-State area.
