Renowned Choreographer Releases New Dance Short UNZIPPED

Critically acclaimed Canadian contemporary and jazz dance choreographer, Caroline Torti, released today her newest body of work entitled"Unzipped" to coincide with the launch of multi-tiered production company, Hallowed Grounds. Torti's newest venture in the production spectrum, alongside co-founder Fabio Buritica, provides full-service production and execution of innovative movement-based film content, while also acting as a platform to share and celebrate cinematic dance content from dynamic artists in the dance industry worldwide.

"The movement of dance tells a story, similar to music; it can connect with audiences around the world," states Torti, Choreographer and Co-Founder, Hallowed Grounds. "I'm pleased to finally share the news of this exciting venture, in conjunction with my latest passion project, shot right here at home in Toronto!"

"Caroline and I created Hallowed Grounds for the creative community to experience the elevation of dance in film and photography," states Fabio Buritica, Executive Producer and Co-Founder, Hallowed Grounds. "The intersection between dance and digital is evolving rapidly and is more present than ever, from passion projects to branded campaigns. We are dedicated to highlighting innovative content while developing our own unique brand."

Shot on-location at Bjarke Ingels' famed Serpentine Pavilion pop-up installation in Toronto, Torti was immensely inspired by the artist's display of perceived opposites: a structure that is free-form yet rigorous; modular yet sculptural; TRANSPARENT and opaque; cubed and curved. "Unzipped" visually illustrates Torti's interpretation of the Serpentine Pavilion's structure through cutting-edge movement, capturing the beauty of the psychological restraints humans place on themselves, while acknowledging the nature of dreams cannot be contained.

"When we capture movement on film, it adds a new dimension to the dance. The technical and artistic elements of storytelling in film allow the audience to experience what the dancer is feeling in a more personal way." Continues Torti.

Torti's vast knowledge in the contemporary, ballet and jazz dance genres is apparent in the effortless complex yet visually stimulating presence of "Unzipped". Set over the music of Kaytranada's "Vivid Dreams" and brought to life by Hallowed Grounds' top team of professional dancers and producers, the ensemble cast of "Unzipped" is comprised of 10 professional dancers including Karly Bon, Amanda Donato, Thomas Colford, Peter D'Souza, Kris Grzella, Andrew Kryzyk, Kae Kae Lee, Miha Matevzic, Matt Marr and Nicole Rosove; alongside Executive Producer Fabio Buritica, Cinematography by James Arthurs and Cam Roden, and Director & Choreographer Caroline Torti.

"This project is entirely a labour of love on my behalf, and I could not be prouder to finally share this with the world." - Caroline Torti
