Producers of YOUNG POPE to Develop Audrey Hepburn Drama Series

The Italian production company behind HBO's The Young Pope are developing a drama series based on the life Audrey Hepburn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli's Wildside will develop the series with Hepburn's son, Luca Dotti and Italian journalist Luigi Spinola, who are the authors of Audrey At Home, Memories of My Mother's Kitchen.

The BIOGRAPHY traces the life of Hepburn from her childhood in Holland during World War II, to her time in Hollywood as an actress and in ROME as a wife and mother, to her final years as a philanthropist traveling the world for UNICEF.

Wildside said in a statement, "In writing the New York Times bestseller, Audrey At Home, Luca and Luigi explored the singularity of Audrey's real self and discovered along the way that it all matched. The muse, the mother and the later humanitarian all closely relate to a girl that never stopped to be amazed by the gift of life."

The TV series will focus on Hepburn's formative years and that Luca Dotti will be closely involved in the show's development, contributing his "unprecedented" historical research from that period in his mother's life.

Production of the drama series is set to start in 2020.
