If you're too old to trick or treat and too tired to go out on a Wednesday night to celebrate Halloween, then I have the perfect solution for you: television. And there's only one thing better than your favorite TV show - when your favorite TV show does a holiday episode! I've compiled a list of the best Halloween episodes of the most popular TV shows for your viewing pleasure tonight. From slutty pumpkins to precinct heists, these episodes will sure to satisfy your need for Halloween tricks and treats!

(The list is in no particular order, because all of these episodes are great and I can't play favorites)

"Halloween" - BROOKLYN NINE-NINE

The heist that started it all. In the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a Halloween tradition was born. Jake and Holt make a bet where Jake has to try to prove he can steal Holt's Medal without before midnight to prove he can't be caught. If Jake wins, Holt will need to make his paperwork and call him his greatest detective; and if Holt wins, Jake will have to work five weekends with no extra salary. This is just the first of many seasons of the show's Halloween heist episodes, and I would recommend watching all of them, but for obvious reasons, I'd start with the first.

"And Then There Was Shawn" - BOY MEETS WORLD

I was terrified of this episode throughout my entire childhood, but I also couldn't not watch it. It was the perfect scary Halloween episode of a normally-family friendly show. After Cory, Topanga, Shawn, Angela, and Kenny end up in detention, things at John Adams High get terrifying. Kenny gets stabbed by a large pencil, Feeny gets scissors to the back, and a masked killer is hell bent on killing them all.

"Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps" - COMMUNITY

In the Halloween episode of the third season of "Community," Britta believes that one member of the group is a psychopath and is determined to find out who it is, which leads to each of them telling their own scary story. Each story perfectly fits each character's personalities, like Pierce's self-centeredness, Troy's friendship with Abed, and Annie's insecurities about Britta and Jeff. This is a classic "Community" episode with a Halloween spin.

"Slutty Pumpkin" - HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Who is the "Slutty Pumpkin"? Well, thats's all Ted would like to know. After meeting the mysterious woman years ago at a Halloween party, he tells Robin how he'll be spending this Halloween doing what he's done every year since meeting the aforementioned pumpkin: going to the same party in hopes of running in to her again. Although her identity isn't revealed (yet), this episode is a lot of fun and includes great costumes, like Marshall as Cher and Barney as Maverick from Top Gun.

"Full Bars" - BOB'S BURGERS

The kids have their first Halloween without Bob, and after a disappointing show of candy from their town, they decide to go where the rich people live, King's Head Island. However, after their trick or treating fantasy is complete with full-sized candy bars, their dreams are shattered when they learn about "Hell Hunt," which is when the teenagers on the island torment any kids found out on the streets after the parents have gotten drunk. Meanwhile, Bob and Linda go to Teddy's "Black and Orange" Halloween party, but after the death of his guinea pig, Frances, things take a dark turn. Like "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Bob's Burgers" has incredible Halloween episodes every year, including "Fort Night" when the kids get trapped inside their own fort by the crazy Millie, or "The Hauntening" when Louise is finally scared, so I'd suggest watching them all!

"The One With The Halloween Party" - FRIENDS

In the only Halloween episode "Friends" ever had, Monica and Chandler decide to host a costume party. During the episode Chandler and Ross have an arm-wrestling match to prove who's stronger, but the match goes on forever, proving instead, how equally weak they are. Meanwhile, Rachel has an unsuccessful time handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, The group all dress up, too: Rachel is wearing a new dress, Ross is Spud-nik, Joey is Chandler, Phoebe is Supergirl, Chandler is a Pink Rabbit, and Monica is Catwoman.

"Halloween" - THE OFFICE

In the first "Halloween" episode "The Office" aired, Michael has to fire someone, but he's waited until the very last minute to do it - on Halloween. Every year "The Office" has great Halloween episodes, but this one is arguably the best. Not to mention it debuts the costume of every lazy man's dream: Three-Hole Punch Jim. We also get to see Dwight as a Sith Lord, Pam as a Cat, and Michael with a second little Michael, and not to mention all of his inappropriate comments, like when he asks Oscar, who is dressed in drag, if he is "flying his true colors."

"Treehouse of Horror" - THE SIMPSONS

I would be remiss if I didn't include the television Halloween classic, Treehouse of Horror. It isn't just one episode but a series of episodes that have become a cultural phenomenon. From spoofing "The Twilight Zone" to other horror and thriller films such as The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, Night of the Living Dead, The Shining, and Psycho, Treehouse of Horror is a Halloween staple.

"Greg Pikitis" - PARKS AND RECREATION

This episode is one of my favorites because it introduces you to the infamous Greg Pikitis, Leslie Knope's "arch nemesis" who is also just a child. Pikitis always vandalizes a statue in the town on Halloween, and Leslie is determined to catch him, but even when she does, he outsmarts her and her team. This episode also introduces us to another beloved character: Burt Macklin, FBI!

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" - SUPERNATURAL

In a show that is basically Halloween all year round, "Supernatural" finally paid tribute to the holiday with this episode in the 4th season. In the episode, Sam and Dean investigate a witch case and find out that they have to confront the powerful demon of Halloween, who only rises every 600 years. This is a much less light-hearted episode than the previous ones, but it definitely puts you in a Halloween spirit!

I hope these episodes will put you in the spirit tonight and fill your Halloween with great costumes, laughs, and some scares!
