BWW Recap: Things Get Chilly on THE FLASH

So far this season, Team Flash has been looking for Cicada and looking for Caitlin's father. This week, the team divides and conquers - Iris, Nora, Sherloque, Cecile, and Ralph work on finding clues that could lead them to Cicada while Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin continue their search for Caitlin's father.

Things get off to a chilly start when Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin take a short trip to the North Pole to see Caitlin's dad. Yes, Cisco's new S.T.A.R. Labs' satellite hookup located Caitlin's dad (Thomas) in the North Pole of all places. Anyways, the three of them (it was so great to see Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin working and hanging out together again) find Thomas in his lab in the abandoned Tannhauser black site and take him back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Caitlin is thrilled to be reunited with her father but the cheerfulness doesn't last long. The mood is further darkened when Cisco starts pointing out holes in Thomas's story. When Caitlin and Thomas go on a walk together, Thomas faints and his entire arm turns to ice. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Thomas reveals that experimenting with cryotherapy was his way of curing his ALS. He also tells Caitlin that she had the genetic marker for ALS and he used this cure on her, resulting in Killer Frost. It's a lot for the team to take in but it seems that Cisco was right to be skeptical. Is it too much to ask that Caitlin get a happy storyline?

Things are a little bit warmer on the hunt for Cicada as Iris and Nora start getting along as they work the case together. Apparently, Iris throwing herself off a building to save Barry last week earned her a lot of points in Nora's books. Together, they find the core of the satellite that made Cicada in the water and bring it back to S.T.A.R. Labs. Meanwhile, Ralph and Cecile (an interesting, but not terrible pair) head to FEMA to get a list of all the victims from the night of the enlightenment.

In the Lab, Caitlin is working on a serum with her own blood to stop the cryo-disease that has resulted from the cryotherapy Thomas used to cure his ALS. But Thomas doesn't want to be cured, rather Icicle doesn't want to be cured. Icicle wants the serum to get rid of Thomas completely and become Icicle full time. In order to stop Icicle from injecting himself with the serum, Team Flash ends of in the DoD where Icicle is turning THE ROOM to absolute zero. Apparently, the cold can stop the heroes. But the cold can't stop Killer Frost! Caitlin's powers return and she's the only one who can fight Icicle/Thomas. Unfortunately, Icicle/Thomas escapes but Team Flash, Caitlin's real family, vows to help get Thomas back.

The episode ends with Ralph and Cecile telling Team Flash the FEMA list led them to three victims from the night of the enlightenment, one of which could be Cicada's daughter. Elsewhere in Central City, Cicada is badly injured but he says that his injuries are only making him stronger, which could be problematic for Team Flash in the future.
