Sony/ATV Music Publishing Extends Worldwide Agreement with Noonie Bao

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has extended its worldwide deal with Swedish songwriter Noonie Bao who has written hits for artists including Camila Cabello, David Guetta and Zedd & Alessia Cara.

The new, long-term agreement with LA-based Bao includes the global smash "Stay" which was recorded by Zedd & Alessia Cara, Camila Cabello's transatlantic Top 10 hit and US No. 1 radio single "Never Be The Same" and Rita Ora's current UK top five hit "Let You Love Me". It also covers future compositions.

Sony/ATV UK Managing Director and President, Worldwide Creative Guy Moot said: "It has been incredible to watch Noonie's growth as she has matured into one of the most accomplished topliners and lyricists in the world today. She has already created an unbelievable catalogue of songs, but we know that there is still so much more to come from her."

Sony/ATV Scandinavia Managing Director & SVP A&R Europe Johnny Tennander said: "Noonie's journey has been fantastic and it's been a privilege to be part of that journey for many years now. Seeing her having this success as a result of her incredible talent and hard work feels very special. We are very happy and proud to continue our journey with her."

Sony/ATV Senior Vice President, Co-Head of West Coast A&R Amanda Hill, who serves as Bao's US-based A&R, said: "We are so thrilled to continue our relationship with Noonie. She is an incredibly gifted songwriter mixed with the heart and soul of a beautiful human being which makes it all that more wonderful to be in business with her."

Noonie Bao said: "After 11 years with Sony/ATV it feels more natural and better than ever to extend our collaboration. I'm very excited for the future!"

Noonie Bao's manager Jakob Emtestam said: "Between the long history with Sony/ATV and the excellence of Noonie's closest contacts, Johnny and Amanda, it was a no brainer to extend one more time. We've achieved some incredible things in the last few years and are more excited than ever about what the future holds together with Sony/ATV."

Noonie Bao has taken up almost permanent residence in the world's music charts having written a succession of hit songs for artists including Camila Cabello, David Guetta, Zedd & Alessia Cara, Rita Ora and Charli XCX.

Born Jonnali Mikaela Parmenius in Stockholm, she enjoyed initial success in Sweden as both a recording artist and songwriter, starting with the release of her own debut single "About To Tell" and first album I Am Noonie Bao in 2012. However, it was her career as a songwriter for others that secured her a first international breakthrough when the song "I Could Be The One" co-written by her and recorded by Avicii and Nicky Romero debuted at No. 1 in the UK and became a hit across the world.

She went on to write for Avicii and Clean Bandit's debut albums, while a close and successful songwriting partnership developed with Charli XCX whose 2014 sophomore album Sucker featured four songs co-written by her, including the UK Top 10 hit "Doing It" featuring Rita Ora.

Further collaborations with Charli XCX followed, which included co-writing with her the Camila Cabello hit "OMG". Bao has since landed another worldwide hit with the ex-Fifth Harmony star, co-writing her US radio No. 1 and UK Top 10 hit "Never Be The Same", which features on Cabello's 2018 chart-topping debut album Camila.

In between the hits with Cabello, Bao scored one of her biggest global hits to date with the Zedd & Alessia Cara single "Stay", which became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, No. 1 on US radio and was certified for 2 million US sales by the RIAA. It also topped Billboard's Pop Songs and Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts, reached the UK Top 10 and No. 3 in Australia.

The worldwide success of "Stay" has been followed this year by a series of big hits written by her, including "Let You Love Me", which reached the UK top five in October for Rita Ora, the David Guetta featuring Anne-Marie single "Don't Leave Me Alone", Zedd and Elley Duhé's "Happy Now" and "1999" by Charli XCX and Troye Sivan. She contributed two songs to Clean Bandit's new album What Is Love?, which was released on November 30.

She has also had songs recorded by artists such as Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Kygo, Carly Rae Jepsen and Ty Dolla $ign.

Her success has been recognised by a number of awards, including a Swedish Grammy for Best Songwriter and the Music Export Prize, which is awarded by Sweden's Government to an artist who has contributed to the country's music export success. She also became the first person since Max Martin and Shellback to win simultaneously both Songwriter of the Year and International Story of the Year at the Swedish MPA Awards.
