Lila Blue Releasing New Music in 2019, Plays Rockwood Music Hall 1/16

Lila Blue is diving into 2019 head first, starting the new year off with a string of performances at the Public Theater as part of Under the Radar Festival. The first group of shows, on January 5th, come as a reunion of The Chekhov Project, a yearly gathering of actors and musicians reinterpreting a selected Chekhov play through original songs and soundscapes. At the festival, a reunited group of these musicians will perform a selection of songs from the project - one of Lila's foundational musical experiences, coming full circle a decade on.

The Festival also finds Lila performing as part of Weightless, an indie-rock retelling of a story from Ovid's Metamorphoses, with Lila in one of the two leading roles. This rock opera, written and conceived by The Kilbanes, received rave reviews from the SF Chronicle, which noted, "Blue's lovely timbre has a delicate surface warble whose every note whispers of fathomless depths below." Catch these performances from January 11th-13th.

Lila will also be taking the stage on January 16th as a solo act at Rockwood Music Hall. With new music coming from the artist in 2019, this will be the first chance that fans will have to see her perform original solo compositions in the new year.

Lila Blue is a singer songwriter from New York City who moved to San Francisco in 2011. At just 18 years old, Lila Blue has proven herself to be an accomplished recording artist, theatrical composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Her songs seem to flow from some deep and ageless source, laying bare emotional journeys unexpected from someone so young. Her vocal phrasing still carries the sweetness of youth, but the lyrics resonate with the shadows and complexity of an older soul. This is poetry wed to music.

Lila Blue has been performing regularly at clubs and festivals in San Francisco and New York; in-studio live performances include Paste Magazine (10K+ views), KPFA, and KUSF. She has appeared as a Special Guest Vocalist for the award winning dance performance troupe, Noche Flamenca, at New York's Lincoln Center Out of Doors summer series and other NYC performances, and at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Lila has written and arranged original theater scores for the New Conservatory Theater of San Francisco, and for the past 9 years has been scoring for The Lake Lucille / Chekhov Project of New York.
