Australia to be Divided into Two Nations, New Novel Prophesizes In Pat Cooney’s first published novel titled “Ron and the Wild Men” (published by Xlibris AU), he brings up a concern of what could happen if people with good intentions carry out actions without properly thinking or planning of the problems that may result when these actions come into fruition.

In the future, Australia has become divided into two separate nations with much different methods of government. The northern nation continues to use the old Westminster form of government, while the southern government is based on “newthink” progressive regulations. The southern government has returned a large western area of New South Wales to the ownership of the indigenous population in which to live in their traditional ways. These people have suffered during this transition so the government of the north has sent an expedition, led by Ron an ex-southerner, and a person that has lived with the indigenous people to study and help them.

The book deals with the achievements of the expedition, the people involved, especially Ron and his lover, Gwen, and those who try to sabotage it or take share of the glory. When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Cooney says, “That they may think but mainly gather enjoyment. Secondly that the more recent past was not really all that bad and perhaps the many laws and regulations that have been propagated to protect us from ourselves, at times restrict our freedoms.”
