Second Generation Theatre Company, founded in 2013 by three Buffalo women, has found a new way for their theatrical productions to live on. The SGT "Costume Clutch," based loosely on the success of the NYC-based Scenery Bags, has raised the company over $2,300 since its launch in January.

"The clutches are made by an amazing volunteer and 100% percent of the proceeds go to enhancing our productions," says Artistic Director, Kelly Copps, who hatched the idea along with her sister and fellow actress, Amy Jakiel. She continues, "We had bins full of beautiful costumes that weren't seeing the light of day, and wanted to offer patrons and friends a new way to support the arts. Hence, the costume clutch."

The original launch featured eleven different designs from the company's first four seasons of shows. With three of them selling out in the first 24 hours, SGT commissioned 12 more styles and they've been selling steadily since.

"We plan to launch a 2018-2019 season collection this summer," says Copps. "They're a useful size, they make fantastic gifts, and each comes with a card detailing the show and performer it came from and how many were made. They're unique and exclusive."

With the holidays coming, these bags are a fantastic way to preserve Buffalo theatre history and support the arts while you shop.
