Upon hearing the name Hedy Lamarr, whom do you see? A smoldering temptress, perched on velour cushions, in the 1949 Hollywood classic Samson and Delilah? Or a demure and professionally clad inventor, deep in the throes of ingenuity, embarking on scientific ideas that were generations ahead of her time?
Now, History At Play™, LLC (HAP) brings Lamarr’s incredible story direct to the comfort of your home VIRTUALLY on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, sponsored by HAP's monthly HAP 'n CHAT Series. The performance Tinseltown Inventor™: The Most Beautiful Woman in the World, Hedy Lamarr runs approximately 60 minutes and is followed by a real-time Q&A with viewers. Suitable for ages 13 and older, the program contains mature themes and viewer discretion is advised. This production, conducted in authentic historical attire, with vintage props, and professionally designed sets, has enjoyed 500 runs nationwide since debuting in 2013, and played before the Northeast premiere of the documentary Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, at Coolidge Corner Theatre, near Boston, MA. PERFORMER BIO:
Jude Kalaora is the Founder and Artistic Director of History At Play™, LLC. Founded in 2010, HAP chronicles the lives of influential and often forgotten figures. Kalaora is a professional educator, award-winning playwright, and living historian. Kalaora graduated Syracuse University Magna cum Laude and completed the Globe Education Program of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre of London, UK. As a New England Foundation for the Arts touring artist; Kalaora is a recipient of Massachusetts Cultural Council awards; a four-time winner of the Bob Jolly Charitable Trust Grant; the 2019 recipient of the Dr. Bobby Gilmer Moss Lectureship Series Award, granted by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; and the 2021 winner of the Women in the Arts Award, bestowed by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
