Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) today announced six of the seven plays for the 2020-21 Season, including the world premiere of Young Americans by Lauren Yee, as well as two of the plays originally scheduled for the current season, according to new Nancy L. Donahue Artistic Director Courtney Sale and Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas.
Drs. Robert Forrant and Bridget M. Marshall of the University of Massachusetts Lowell will appear in free post-show talkbacks on March 26 and March 29 after performances of the world premiere of The Lowell Offering at Merrimack Repertory Theatre.
Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will present the world premiere of The Lowell Offering by Andy Bayiates and Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, the galvanizing true story of Lowell's a?oeMill Girls,a?? from March 18 to April 12 at the Nancy L. Donahue Theatre at Liberty Hall, according to Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas and Interim Artistic Director Terry Berliner. Jess Hutchinson directs.
The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) today announced the nominees for the 23rd Annual IRNE Awards, which honor the best of the previous year's actors, directors, choreographers, designers and companies across the full spectrum of large, mid-size and fringe theater companies. Moulin Rouge!, a new musical produced by Global Creatures, and An American in Paris, produced by the Ogunquit Playhouse, led with 12 and 11 nominations, respectively, in the Large Stage Musical Category. The Huntington Theatre led all companies with 31 nominations across seven productions, including 11 for Man in the Ring, the story of six-time world champion prizefighter Emile Griffith.
