Has Eden been in regularly lately? I have opportunity to get free tickets to see the show any day this week! I want to make sure I choose a night that she will be in. I was thinking a Wednesday evening performance or a Thursday or Friday evening. What my best bet on a day in hopes she will be in? Thank you

Charley Kringas Inc said: "This is one of those shows that's frustrating precisely because you can see the parts of it that are really great, and how they're muffled by the parts that aren't.

First off, I loved the score, even if the melody is often let down by pedestrian lyrics. These are just fun songs to listen to - Don't Bet Your Heart, Perfection, The Most Beautiful Bracelet, Pari Will Always Be Pari, Women, Stay, What She Sees, and Just This Way are all going to get heavy spotify rotation from me. There's so much bounce and creativity in every single song, and the whole score feels surprisingly unified in how it sits on the border of 20s jazz and pop-fascism, while still being purely theatrical..."

I love this thoughtful and comprehensive review of the show. I think you're spot on about its strengths and weaknesses.

I caught the show with the Understudy.
I thought the understudy was terrific!!!!!!

In face, I really enjoyed the show much more than Suffs or Hell's Kitchen both which were dull to me.

I love the Lemicka story. And I loved that it spanned a whole century..

Catch it before it goes! Gorgeous set and some stunnning things  in it.

Caught this for the second time and only continue to love the score even more and hate the book even more.

At the end of the day, the person I stick with the blame for this show is Rachel C. There's an interesting show here, but the elements don't work, talk to each other... and overshadow one another. That's for the director to fix. A shame, because there are some killer performances happening onstage. This cast deserves better.

The book also needs extensive work.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

When I saw the show in La Jolla, I said this exact same thing to an acquaintance who was a member of the production team.  Actually, I was a bit harsher. I said that both the director and choreographer needed to be replaced immediately.  I haven't seen the Broadway iteration, but, from what I was reading online during previews, it doesn't sound like any of the glaring issues with the show were addressed.

In fairness, Gould and Kreitzer wrote the show, and not all writers are willing and able to have their work “shaped” in the way that Chavkin guided Hadestown and Great Comet to Broadway. Directing a new musical or play does sometimes involve being a dramaturg or kind of ghost writer or “silent partner,” but not necessarily. Every collaboration is going to be different.

As , not as great this is compared to the sh*tty Hell's Kitchen" --- this is better and the 2nd worst of the year.

I agree that the director and choreographer didn't land this one.  The show has been worked and reworked and overworked, Gould and Kreitzer have written and replaced a ton of scenes and a ton of songs (including some lost GREAT songs), the three productions have all had different structures/focuses/endings... I love the show "an sich" but every version has felt like... the director doesn't really know what to do with the material.

People seem to be letting the producers off the hook here. The lead producers are ultimately the bosses on a production, and their notes and demands can powerfully shape a new show. The buck stops with them.

I agree Mariand (standby not U/S) was terrific and enjoyed her performance over Eden's voice with pitch issues and often flat! As for the show, it's just a big of a mess that Chavkin could not fix!

Wow just got out of the matinee and loved it. Eden and Amber are absolutely amazing. Beth’s solo song at the end of Act 2 had the audience crying. Could of done without the set, dancing and cutting a song or two but the music is the best score this season. TDF seat was row D

Did I come out learning a lot…nope but to see Eden and Amber work magic is just a dream

How can we get Eden for the Tuesday night Norma in Sunset ?

Count me in the camp of people who found it just messy. So long working on it. Such a disappointment
