Yeah if Hamilton LA isn’t up and running, I could see lots of LA people making the drive over.

There are rumours of a Toronto sit-down as well.  (The set is currently still onstage there too)

Umm, Vegas will be just fine if Hamilton never sets foot in the city. The gambling is Vegas' main appeal.

The Phantom Las Vegas Spectacular was the best production that’s been on the strip, in my opinion. If the other flagship productions wanted to make changes for the better, Cameron should have incorporated the Vegas chandelier. It really was a whole other level of spectacle.

As far as Hamilton - I can see it doing a limited run possibly, but I highly doubt it would be a big sell. There is (or was?) plenty of options that were more affordable but also more spectacular. I find the lowbrow crowd that Vegas brings would be more apt to watch it on Disney+ than pay legitimate Hamilton prices, especially if it’s nobody from the original cast. If Lin stepped in and did another run, maybe.

But even then - not sure if Hamilton could justify enough cuts for a shorter show, and I don’t know if audiences would want to listen to drunk gamblers slurring along to the songs.

If Hamilton wants to succeed in Vegas they might as well bring back the water effect they got rid of after the first preview of the Public run.

Yeah there isn't any spectacle and the show is kinda...heavy...for Vegas. If Phantom can't succeed...

Phantom succeeded enough to run for six years.

But still closed at a loss after running for six years.

True - financially a loss (but what can you expect with how much that production cost...hell, the entire theatre was built just for that show) but overall more successful than Hairspray, Avenue Q, The Producers, to name a few.

I can't say either way whether this would be a smash or a bad move. Sure it's longer, heavier and browner than most Vegas entertainments, but on the other hand... it's Hamilton. There has never been a bigger musical than Hamilton, a show so culturally influential that it changed the political lexicon even before there was a filmed version.

C'mon. It was a $100+ million production. It was NEVER going to recoup.

That it played 6 years in Vegas is amazing.

And it gave the strip the stellar combo of Brent Barrett and Sierra Boggess.

A production of Rock of Ages played The Venetian from 2012-2016, then the show transferred to the Rio until it closed in January of 2017.

Oh I didn’t know that. I’m not up with the Vegas shows.  Mj would probably work well there too. And probably Moulin Rogue. And the incoming Burlesque.

I saw Phantom in Vegas and the show I saw was a special show additional slot due to a holiday stop. I did enjoy the show as did the other 50 people in the theatre with me.

If I’m being honest, I feel like Beetlejuice would work much better in Vegas. It’s a name people that go would know. “Oh hey, I liked the movie, let’s go see that.” Even if they use the touring set, which I love the touring production but oh gosh that set… And if they use the 90 minute version that’s on the Norwegian Viva, I feel like it would be a success.

MJ would find a tough road in Vegas as long as Cirque's Michael Jackson ONE is running.
