I like Seyfried....but could NOT abide her singing in Les Mis.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
If we're talking about anyone from Pitch Perfect regardless of whether or not Kendrick was a part of the film, I could see the other Anna -- Anna Camp -- as Glinda, if she can sing the role. And she's a star already with Universal who produced/distributed the Pitch films.
^ Agreed, Kendrick is very wise to want a break from musical films if she wants to be known for anything else.
Also, does Wicked even need stars? I mean some well known people in supporting roles will be great, but I doubt its commercial success will depend on having 2 main huge stars to sell it, right?
I certainly hope this never comes to be. I don't care how much "coaching" she's had for the part her voice to too thin and shrill ... I hated her in MAMMA MIA and I hated her in LES MIZ ... as for Anna Kendrick ... she's not as bad as Amanda but I really don't think her voice is right for the role of Elphaba at all.
I don't think it would be a great pairing, personally. I can see either one as Galinda (although neither would really be my first choice for the role). But I don't think Anna Kendrick has the voice for Elphaba. It's a beautiful voice, but it doesn't the power (for lack of a better word) that several of Elphabas songs require. That's nothing against her voice, I just don't think it's suited to the role.

Depending on the age gap between young and grown Elphaba, if we assume some years have passed but not a huge amount of time, I'd be interested in seeing Pink audition for Elphaba. She's got the right kind of voice, and she's got a strong, distinctive look that is sexy but not conventionally beautiful and feminine, which is exactly what an Elphaba needs.
I'm sorry...is Amanda Seyfried under the delusion that she has a good enough voice for Glinda? She was barely able to get through Cosette. She's a good actress, but needs to accept the fact that she is not a professional-level singer and has gotten her musical movie roles only because her name would sell tickets.

I think that Elphaba could/should be an unknown...they could "introduce" her with this film!
Galinda, I think Brittany Snow should play--she's not an A-list megastar, but she's known enough, and has a nice sized fan-base.
Then, for Fiyero, a "Hollywood heartthrob", who can sing the part.
Kendrick for Nessarose, or cast a lesser known actress who has experience on stage, like Samantha Barks.
Then, cast Film/TV/Stage veterans as The Wizard, Dr Dillamond, and Madame Morrible.
Or they could just animate it and have the freedom to do whatever they want to do cinematically without CGI'ing everything, and they would have the freedom cast more stage stars/Broadway veterans. Updated On: 6/19/15 at 06:44 PM

I'm not sure if Seyfried really is that big of a draw when it comes to the box office. Yes, she's been in Mamma Mia and Les Miserables (two big hits for Universal), but those were both ensemble pieces. While she did find moderate successes in films like Dear John, Letters to Juliet, Red Riding Hood, and Epic, she's also had her fair share of flops such as Jennifer's Body, Chloe, Gone, The Big Wedding, etc.
The point I'm trying to make here is that just because you're famous, doesn't automatically make you invincible. It's just like Broadway, sometimes you have a hit, sometimes you don't.
I honestly think the movie won't impede sales. So I'd rather see it sooner than later. There are some people who would do well in this movie If they did it soon. I can see Kristen Bell doing Glinda well. As for Elphaba as much as I hate her Lea Michele is probably a front runner already.

I feel like she was more of a "front runner" in the midst of glee, but now that that show is gone and quickly fading into the annals of history, I don't think she will prove to be the first choice. Quite frankly, I see Lea Michelle as much more of a Nessa Rose than an Elphaba. She has a more powerful voice than Anna Kendrick, but still I feel like she lacks a certain quality that the end of Defying Gravity, for instance, needs. Again, that's not to say she isn't great.
