Following the success of Christine Walsh’s production of The Sleeping Beauty in 2008, The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet is proud to once again present this enchanting traditional ballet at the New Hamer Hall. This production will feature 75 dancers of the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet along with national and international guest artists. All performances will be accompanied by the 65 member ACB Orchestra conducted by Peter Bandy.
In a fairytale kingdom a princess is born named Aurora. At her christening, the good fairies bestow blessings of virtue on the princess but the wicked fairy Carabosse casts an evil curse that Aurora will prick her finger and die on her sixteenth birthday. The virtuous Lilac Fairy counters this curse foretelling that Princess Aurora will not die but fall into a deep sleep, as will all in the kingdom. After one hundred years Princess Aurora will be awakened with a kiss from a handsome Prince.
