MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS Opens The New Year At Roswell Cultural Arts Center

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), the professional North Fulton theatre company, will bring in the new year with its third mainstage show, the comedy Moonlight and Magnolias. Directed by GET Associate Artistic Director James Donadio, the production is graciously sponsored by Macy's and will run January 10 through January 27, 2019 at the company's home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

Moonlight and Magnolias - by Ron Hutchison. The year is 1939 and Hollywood producer David O. Selznick is trying to make the over-sized movie that is Gone With The Wind. It's been cast with stars and the cameras need to start rolling but there's one major hiccup - he has no script! So naturally, he decides to lock himself, director Victor Fleming (who he pulls off of The Wizard of Oz), and screenwriter Ben Hecht, who hasn't even read the book, in his office with nothing but bananas and peanuts and a typewriter. As the three of them reenact the book, we see a Rhett and Scarlett like never before! Loosely based on a true story, it's a hilarious homage to the men behind the American movie classic. Warning: Mature Language/Content

The cast of Moonlight and Magnolias features Bill Murphey (My Fair Lady at GET) as David O. Selznick, Googie Uterhardt (Buddy Holly Story and My Fair Lady at GET) as screenwriter Ben Hecht and Bart Hansard (Lombardi at Aurora Theatre) as director Victor Fleming. Mahalia Jackson (Once On This Island at GET) rounds out the cast in the role of Miss Poppenghull.

Ticket prices for Moonlight and Magnolias will start at $29. Book early for best prices. (Senior/Student discounts available for select performances). Groups of 10 or more are welcome with great discounts available. Tickets are on sale now at www.get.org, or by calling the Box Office at 770-641-1260.
