Emmy-winning actress Tyne Daly stopped by this morning's TODAY to talk about her new Broadway play 'Mothers and Sons' and her love of theater. The actress explained why she hasn't taken a day off from acting since 1968! Watch the appearance below!

Mothers and Sons, the new play by four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally and starring Tyne Daly, is currently playing at Broadway's John Golden Theatre.

The story follows a mother who pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her - without her - she is finally able to see the rich life her son might have led. The cast also features Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Weller and Tony Award nominee Steggert. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall) directs.

Mothers and Sons had its WORLD premiere production at Bucks County Playhouse on June 13, 2013.

McNally's other works for Broadway include Bad Habits; The Ritz; The Rink; Kiss of The Spider Woman; Love! Valour! Compassion!; Master Class; Ragtime; The Full Monty; and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune.
